So Ashley has a short dress that someone made (was it you Getorex?).  Maranda has her mid-drift dress.  But Liara's dress is basically the same dress she works in ME2 with a different texture so I decided to take a mod from another game.  Which I intend to give the artist credit for if I can ever get in touch with them.  (If they give permission, they haven't answered me yet)

Anyway so I took the Liara "Romance" model and added a dress to it.  I think it worked out quite well.  However I don't have the skills to finish it.  I don't know what I am doing when it comes to combining meshes and trying to make parts of textures from scratch.

So I am hoping someone here with Texture skills will help me finish it.

I think it should be white as white and blue go good together maybe with some sort of flower pattern.  I fell like the lore says that Asari are sexy so Liara should be. Especially if there is a romance she would want to be sexy at the party thing.  So here is what I have done so far, Looking for someone to finish it.

It does look good. Is that her normal dress modified or did you generate it from zero?

I did Ashley's but that was just trimming away "excess" length. I didn't change other stuff (other than my usual simple things: slim hips, but, posture straightening). This dress looks like a more substantial bit of work.

I ported it from another mod from a different game, on nexus.  Took just the shoes and dress and then prodded and resized until I was able to get it to fit right.  Took about 3 hours of work, but once again I am stuck because I am not a texmodder, (I can add stuff but I can't do stuff from scratch, not with the graphics programs I am working in).  I even asked someone on the mass effect mod group on deviant art if they could help, but they didn't answer.  I would love to finish this and my new armor mod as well.

Oh well, I am going to release a whole bunch of resources to the masses soon and see if that will get people interested.  I have ported all of the mp-armors that aren't already in the game, my Ashley mods, as well as this, and a modified Kai Lang armor.

I am not great at textures so you don't want me on that...do you have a decent UV map to work with? There's not much to a dress so the UV should be simple. What did the dress look like in the other mod/game?

Oh, because of the large leg cutaway, you will want a mesh sheet "liner" to the inner side of the visible dress or it will be invisible in the game like there's nothing there at all from front or side angles from the left (her left).

Oh yeah, I had asked for some texture help a while ago at deviantart but also got silence. Mostly it has been here that I've gotten texture help either by a direct ask or via offer, usually because someone already had a texture that would work and our mods naturally went together.

I know but I don't have the tools (Currently using Corel Draw good for shopping like the Ashley stuff we did together but you can't import the UV maps or anything).  The good news is the great Ottemis graciously offered to help with the armor, and she is the best so I am really happy about that.

I was wondering about the back of the sheet liner thing.  Is there an easy way to do that?

It would be easy in Blender or 3ds.  The way I'd do it is take a section of the mesh behind her bare leg and duplicate it, flip the normals, and move it to be JUST resting on the back surface of the original dress mesh.  It would overlap with the same segment of the part of the dress it was duplicated from on the UV map and so get the same texture.

If you'd provide me the psk I could take a shot at it.

Cool I will send you a link later tonight.  At this point I still struggle with almost everything I do in 3ds, have to say I really like it though.  How do you think the weights will transfer with a dress like this, do you think it will work?

Hey I sent you the file, with the one texture that already existed.  I removed the bones to make it easier, I am going to have to put them back anyway.

I've added enough of a dress liner, I think, to prevent any appearance of an invisible dress.  I'll pass it back shortly.

Here's the texture you provided applied so you can see the "liner" works.  I just duplicated enough of the dress and flipped the normals to cover what needed covering inside the dress.  When Liara is in the dress I believe the unlinered portions will be covered by her body.

Wow that is pretty close, just have to get rid of the feet I think.  Now if I can make it white I am in good shape.   Thanks for you help!

If it doesn't quite work it would be simple enough to just duplicate the entire lower half of the dress and reverse the normals.  I was just trying to keep the number of polys as low as possible as a matter of efficiency.

I have gotten this in, I am going to try to do the texture if I can.
