While putting together the update to the CEP, it occurred to me that it might be nice to include some placeable gravestones that bear the names of NWN community contributors that have passed away over the years.

I know there are a few. Pasilli and lately Tyndrel come to mind.  If someone were to take this on (it shouldn't be difficult with perhaps an existing gravestone and just using GIMP or something to make multiple textures/faces for it, and would provide good practice), I think we could collect a list of names here, then whoever volunteers would have a simple place to look while working.

I could then add the gravestones into CEP 2.60 as a tribute to those lost community members.

What say ye, folks?

What a *nice* idea.
I've got Rubies.

Edit: I'll also put together a couple-three base memorials with a template texture for some our talented flat artists :-)

That's a wonderful idea. These guys will be remembered.

I like this idea.  Our server has a small memorial to players we've lost over the years.

Bump.

Also, if folks were to start a complete list of those deceased contributors (and players, too, why not?) here, it would make the chiseling of said gravestones easier.

Once a PW proposed a memorial statue of an evil player leader who was dying of cancer, as a tribute to his rp, but he absolutely hated the idea, and demanded his character was passed on to a fellow rper instead after his demise, as his last wish.  (and it was, to the biggest rebel he knew)

For memorials i suggest people like JR Tolkein (has a grave stone in Ultima 7's skara brae), DnD's First DM, Dave Arneson (who deserves a statue like Gygax's), H.R. Geiger, Phillip Seoumour Hoffman, or whoever has that passed you admired most , that thank them for  their contributions, reflect on their best moments, or have funny old west rhymes (my personal request when i kick it myself) that read like burma-shave signs:

Here lies a troll...

Without a name...

Disrupting others...

Was his game!

(Early fallout games had some great graves too...)

Do they have to be dead? What about all the people who made great contributions to the game but have since moved on? I still miss madam loads of hugs and chocolate  :rolleyes: .

I'd say yes, because otherwise the list would be miles long for a game this old.

Which is no problem if you create a memorial wall.

Do you mean realy past away community members or just people who left the scene?

Because is it the not so serious past away way... i have some names i remember very well who inspired me or who i think deserve some credits for contributing great stuff for the times they were made.

edit:

oh man, i just read what you two were talking about. So i dont know anyone i guess. Or lets say i hope i dont know anyone who passed away!

<putting some butterflies...>

Added a little more pixie-sweetness with some butterflies...

...and a little more menace with her pixie-stinger dagger :-)

Now I just need to figure out how to add the "Cuddly little hellball of death" of hers to the onDeath anim :-)

Edit: Also adjusted some smoothing groups on Tyndrel's oroboros

Fabulous work Rolo.  I think I prefer her without the dagger in her hand though.  With the dagger, it's a bit too...frozen NPC, and less of a statue.  If that makes sense.

<making a...>

I might have to make a special edition for you then, 3 :-P

I do understand what you're saying (hence the original position peter-pan-like on her hip), but I did not feel it gave any of the sense of dangerous pixie-cute-mischief-maker that I want for Rubies, Queen of the Pixies. Something that fits with her Cuddly Balls o' Death.

Anybody else, I'd leave it at that... but as I *do* have an earlier version with blade on hip... I'll do that for you :-)

Edit: Also, I was shooting for a bit of ambiguity about the statue being only a statue, which you won't really see until you see the damage and activated anims...

Edit2: Something else I haven't mentioned above was I had promised Rubies a set of dragonfly pixie wings and I was never able to deliver, so that is one of the reasons I *had* to do this memorial :-P

I haven't got around to making the gravestone kit yet, but, as FP pointed out, it's past time for these two memorials to be released.

The question is how to represent Pasilli (and did someone say that Lisa of the clothes and holdables is no longer of this world)?

Perhaps a representation of Gond, the god of crafting?

<poking cestus...>

I'm getting an itchy feeling in my crafting finger... <the one he uses to supervise cestus...>

...so I may be interested in Pasilli's memorial. Thing is, I know nothing about him. Can his friends give me memories of him?

I will be doing a memorial for Suna and would like some stories, anecdotes, quotes or anything for her as well. Help me find their soul to invest in the statues Cestus carves.

Talk to me, friends.
