I just finished Mass Effect 1, again. For the first time since that horrifically lazy, half assed ME3 ending.... I can finally can stomach the thought of it to play 1 and 2.

BUT, my question was about Sovereign. Something I didn't notice before. If the reapers were trapped in dark-space because of what the last 12 Prothean researches did on the Citadel... How or why was Sovereign there? Hahaha.... Maybe I missed something somewhere along the line, but I'm genuinely curious if there's an answer to that. Maybe there was an answer in the books (haven't read them) or in the game that I missed.

He was left behind after the last "harvest" to check how things progress and send the signal to the keepers when it's time for the next one. I don't remember who says it, probably Vigil (the VI on Ilos), but it is in the game.

You obviously either don't remember something Vigil said, or you skipped that investigate option.
