or things that you wonder about, if that's too hyperbolic for you :P

part of why I enjoy the DA series so much is because of the mysteries the writers put into it. I enjoy speculating about and hearing other peoples' thoughts about them and of course I'm hooked into continuing with the series because I want to know the answers! (to some of them, there are some things I'm happy for them to leave open)

some of them they've given the answer to now:

- what promise Flemeth extracted from Maric in The Stolen Throne

- the secret of the eluvians

some of the things that keep me up at night still:

- what is Flemeth?

- was the black city black when they got there or not?

- who was Felassan talking to in the Fade?

- what is the shady business that the wardens have been implied to be being up to?

- what is the nature of the 'gift' morrigan gives the warden at the end of witch hunt?

- what's the deal with sandal?

- who is Alistair's mom?

so what are some of the burning questions you have? which are you hoping are answered in inquisition, and which would you prefer be tackled in another game or left open forever?

The 2 things that I'm thinking about, but don't keep me awake at night, is who the VA for femquisitor will be and how many playthroughs I will do.

I'm expecting some of the questions I have - like 'what are the Wardens doing?' and 'what's the deal with the red lyrium and the idol?' and 'where did the Warden and Hawke wander off to?' should certainly be covered in DAI. There are others I'm not so sure about:

Who or what is Red Jenny? What are her 'friends' up to, exactly?

What is a Fex? (Other than "a member of a fifth sapient species in Thedas, native to Par Vollen and now largely absorbed into the Qun.") Are they halflings? Mer-people? Catfolk? Talking cabbages? I HAVE TO KNOW!

What drove the Qunari out of their original homeland? Do their relatives back home follow the Qun, or were they a splinter group? (It would be mighty interesting if other horned giants eventually showed up ...)

What is the true nature of the Old Gods? Where did they come from? Are they Fade spirits/demons who have taken the form of dragons, or something else entirely? And, perhaps most importantly for the future of Thedas, are there really only seven of them? (This is one I don't necessarily ever expect a straight answer to.)

Is Varric a romance option in DA:I?

Can my Inquisitor ride a pony?

Is the Chantry right? If not, who is?

Your mom.

Unless she's a Chantry believer. Then probably not.

Why is my inquisitor at the peace meeting?

This.

Although... I've been spinning a theory about in my head, having to do with being accidentally transported bodily through the Fade, and just landing there along with the demons.

I'm thinking all the parties involved there would have an entourage. You might just be part of one of those. I'd be surprised if we were playing an important role, but who knows.

It would appear that we share all of the same burning questions...

EDIT:  And of course, this one, WHERE IS MY WARDEN?!

Will there be options to support the Templars?
Seriously, my buying the game relies upon the answer to this question.

If the eluvians are so powerful, why did the kingdom that made them fall, is my question.

Clearly, Nicolas Cage will be doing the voice acting. This is just part of the contract

I think that one has an answer. They take lyrium dust or something, right?

As for WHO the Inquisitor is, maybe he steps out of the TARDIS, rather than the Fade...

Almost certainly. DA ][ had them, didn't they? And Laidlaw/Darrah (think it was Darrah) has stated that DA ][ had the extremes of the two sides, and that DA I will be more neutral.

I have some questions, I don't know about burning ones. But they're all about weird little things. Like those islands you can see just off the coast of Ferelden both on the north coast in the waking sea and off the east coast. Who do they belong to? Are they ruled by Banns or are they independent states or uninhabited and if so why? What the hell is the Tirashan? Why haven't the elves colonised some of the huge empty wilderness on the borders of Thedas? What are the true origins of humans on Thedas?

Why are elves genes so stupidly adaptive to the point where they could easily breed themselves into extinction? Were they really once immortal and if so why did that really go away? What's the deal with the old gods? What happened to the griffons? Why hasn't the ecological damage caused by the blights spread across the continent considering a huge amount of the land mass is barren waste land? Shouldn't it be like the dust bowl in America circa 1930? Why are there so few lakes on this continent? How have the gray wardens sustained themselves as an order for a thousand years? Why haven't the nations crumbled or changed hands other than  the Tevinter Imperium? These states have held almost the same amount of territory for like a thousand years other than a handful of times mostly related to the fall of the Imperium. That's weird. How exactly do spells work,  what is a spell? Is it just the set way of manipulating fade energies to get that specific result?  I dunno there are probably answers to a couple of those I've missed somewhere.

And then the usual. What's the deal with Flemeth, Morrigan, the Warden , the Inquisitor? All that jazz. But that's all I can think of  for now there's always something else. I really do like the setting, though sometimes I think in an effort to give themselves room to expand the writers have been more vague about the world and it's history than makes sense for people living in it. By that I mean the characters would probably know more than we do from what the games have told us.Like We should have learned a whole lot more about Tevinter society from Fenris, though I guess the writers have to give out what's relevant to the game or it would just turn into a big lesson of fictional history. Is it wrong that I would love that? I should get world of Thedas.

When the Imperium occupied the area that is present-day Ferelden, they had two sites dedicated to magical experimentation at the extreme ends of the Imperial Highway. The southern one was the fortress of Ostagar, which looked out over the Korcari Wilds. The northern one was Aeonar, although the exact location is now a secret known only to a handful of Templars.

Whatever it was the Tevinter were trying to discover at Aeonar, their work was never completed. The fortress was overrun by disciples of Andraste upon hearing the news of her death. According to legend, it was a massacre-eerily silent, for the invaders caught the mages while all but one of them were in the Fade.

The site was left structurally sound but spiritually damaged. Possibly because of this, the Chantry chose to put it to use as a prison. Accused maleficarum and apostates are held in the confines of Aeonar. Those who have a powerful connection to the Fade, and particularly to demons, will inevitably attract something across the Veil, making the guilty somewhat easier to tell from the innocent.

--From Of Fires, Circles, and Templars: A History of Magic in the Chantry, by Sister Petrine, Chantry scholar.

the north roads where aeonar is supposed to be wind up right in the northern isles area you are talking about here.... of course there is still a small point of mainland here, but i wouldnt put it past them to put aeonar the mage prison on one of the islands
