I liked Marian Hawke because she had the awesome hair that I couldn't select without a mod (please let this never happen again), so I used her on Xbox 360.

On PC, however, I modded the game and made a customized character, like I always do.

I really like creating my own character in games and I hope that they'll release a demo of DAI with CC in it, or an early release of the character creator alone (like DAO and, more recently, Saints Row IV).

My Shepard was insanely hot, but default male Shepard looks good too. I will probably use the default the next time I play ME.

I don't like default male Hawke. The beard is detached from the face and his face looks bloated .He looks way better in the art and trailer though.

I also dislike the DAO presets and had to mod Alistairs facial structure to get a good one. Of course I tweaked that to make my warden look unique but the base presets were so hardto work with.

Given how the default models look and how they seem to have finally fixed facial hair, I might like the defaults this time around.

I don't really have a problem with default looks, but I've found that when I play the game with them, it's a lot harder for me to connect with that character. The only time I made it all the way through the game with the default (female Hawke), I ended up deleting her later to make room for another Hawke (customized), which I liked much better.

Even if the default Inquisitor looks amazing, I know I'll just end up making my own. But I'm one of those people who's happy to spend quite a bit of time just in the CC.

I love customizing my character, and when you consider the thousands of options we'll have in the Inquisition character creation...

I might spend hours making my characters lol

I would prefer to make a custom character, but if they do the DA2 "specially made and unalterable" defaults I might have to grudgingly go with that. I have a terrible eye for the appearance sliders so my Hawkes always looked like crap next to the default ones and it annoyed me to no end.

I like custom creation too, but when I think about the measures I went to on DAO/360, it's kind of ridiculous. First was limited to default templates, then I'd jot down the exact position of the sliders, then launch the game.. look at different angles.. then delete.. then tweak more.. rinse/repeat. It gets to be pretty time consuming. I also think I have minor obsessive compulsive disorder, so that doesn't help. Heh

I played the default male on all mass effects because the men on there that i made looked like a human had a monkey child then mated it with a chicken.  but besides that i really enjoy making my own.

I've never used a default before and I doubt I will ever in DAI.

I know it's offtopic, but due to being an Agents of SHIELD fan I totally thought you said John Garrett.

In ME, even though default shepard is kinda handsome, I never used the default face. In DA 2, the default hawke was awesome, and thank god this time I could modify some features, like the tattoos, scars and make him bald, now he is my perfect hawke (it's the one on my avatar). But for the most part, I don't use the default faces, and certailnly I won't use the default quizzy, is not even on hawke's league.

One advantage DA has over ME in customization is that you aren't carrying the same character over into the next game with different customization options that makes your previously amazing character look atrocious.

(Or at least very different, like when Danny Trejo Shepard suddenly turned into Tom Selleck Shepard...)

So far I've really liked the default inquisitor, he just comes across as more normal and likable than default dude bro Hawke did. That being said I think fem Hawke looked fantastic, so it would be nice if they managed to make the femquisitor look as cool. Although I was really disappointed when I found out you cant customize the defaults or use any of the features they had. Hopefully they avoid doing that again.

Another thought I had was what if the Inquisitor we've been seeing in the trailers ends up being like the Gray Warden from the Dragon age Origins CGI trailers and ends up disappearing once the game is released.

I generally prefer to customise all my characters appearance with the exception being Dragon Age 2, I have used default Garret Hawke so many times that I can't change him now, the voice just doesn't suit any face I make anymore.

But I will definitely be customising my quizzy for hours before I actually get into the game.

I only wish Garrett (default) had been a close male counterpart to Marian. The concept art was like that at first. link

personally, I think defaults can sometimes take away from a sense of customization. I have always wished that the default you started with would randomize. So one default is female Elf Warrior, and another is MaleDwarf rogue. Each looking different each time. I think that would be cool, and less skew the results toward male Human warriors.

DA2 just had a window of classes, it wasn't set to anything like a default class or look. Bioware will likely keep moving in that direction, especially as they handed the ME franchise off to someone else.

Except it was worse having you start out looking completely different. It stressed the default probably more than most other Bioware games with forcing you with the default for the prologue before starting play, which has some nasty consequences especially for WoC/MoC PCs

It's just supposed to be humorous. Varric's exaggerated version of some bloodsoaked mage/warrior/rogue ripping the arms off an ogre or what have you. "Bullsh*t! That's not what really happened."

Never play default. If a game gives me character creator, I am creating the character I want.

Right, that thing. Ugh, I bleached that part out of my brain. You're completely right.

I had no idea that BioWare was someone other than BioWare.

Regardless it does emphasize the default, and even some people who dont normally play default felt obligated to due to there is no way beardy mcBeardedson with blood scar nose is the same guy as mine. And FemHawke wasnt much better. And also why their looks as described make them "more awesome" in Varric's view instead of how they actually look. Unintentional? yes. Nasty implications? Oh yeah.
