Yes it does. As long as the shapechange is in the slot above.
I'm glad your going to try this. I suggested it but havn't gotten around to trying it out yet. It was going to be my next playthrough in a week or so.

Let us know how it works.Posted Image

Cool.  Yea I'm about to start a new game as a Mage so I might as well try it.  I'll post the results.

Arcane Shield is useful if you're going for a high defense mage, like an AW tank. Mages have a lot of +12 defense gear, if you start stacking it with defense spells you can get a pretty insane defense score. I'm playing a defense mage right now and I figure I'll be able to manage a 220+ defense (Counting Glyph of Warding and Heroic Defence) by the end game.

Petrify has a physical resistance check instead of a mental resistance check, it seems to have less duration decrease against elites than the other single target disables, it has a greater range than CoC though it is single target, and it can shatter.

Feign Death, the Shapeshifter line and Disengage are pretty bad. They're about the closest that come to useless. There are plenty of other spells/talents that are useless dependent on playstyle, but those are the abilities I just can't see being useful to any build.

Disengage isn't bad....

I'd say the whole line above Mana Clash. Why protect yourself from mages, when you can OHKO them on sight?

What makes feign death even more of a crime is that it's a spell at the end of a chain so you'd think it'd be great but that didnt happen. I dont bother with petrify simply because I dont like any of the spells in that chain except for Rock armor. For me, I can always think of somewhere else I'd like to put those points.

A rogue talent that is a bit of a letdown is Whirlwind. (another end of the chain talent) Even with my cunning high (lower 70's) and with lethality, that attack doesnt do much in the way of damage at all. And it has a ridiculously long cool down on top of that. And for it to even hit, you have to be standing right next to them. It's supposed to help you hit enemies that surround you but if you play your rogue right, that's not going to happen much anyways. A waste of a talent if you ask me! Flurry and momentum are way better.
