I'm totally fine with just horses. But what I would like is the option to customize your horse...you know pick the breed and the color of it.

I want one of those giant Clydesdale horses for my Qunari Inquisitor.

If you look at the map you can see that the Waking Sea is really quite large, and there are no bridges to the islands in the three northern seas and of-course the Amaranthine Ocean. So this first one isn't really a mount but a form of transportation but a boat. Not a ship mind you we are not in AC Black Flag here. Another course of action for the ocean would be a cut scene of the player on a ship with say Isabella, or even riding on the back of a fully sized dragon!

 

That said there are mythical sea creatures that could be used as sea mounts, but I don't want to see the player character riding on the back of a dolphin lol It would be cool but it'd be too daft.

 

I can't imagine the Inquisitor riding a dolphin without laughing! LMAO.

Actually, a customizable horse would be AWESOME. And yes, a Qunari would need an unusually large horse lmao.

Draft Horse would be good for a Qunari. They are the biggest breed in the world.

Eeeeeh, drafts are a horse type though and several breeds within that typing aren't actually very big at all. They're bulky, yes, but not tall. In terms of height a Shire or a Clydesdale would be ideal, as they can actually reach the largest heights. Where as something like a Gypsy Vanner - unless it's on the higher end of the height spectrum allowed - might be squashed under the size of a full grown, armor wearing Qunari. Then again, all drafts and draughts are still very powerful, so in the end it would depend upon the individual horse.

Remember Kitty (below) a possessed cat in the Shale DLC for DAO. Well kitty could talk. So your mount could be like another companion. I admit I laugh at this idea myself, but it is lore friendly.

Actually, there was no possessed cat. Kitty just took the form of a cat.

Personally I think we might see Horse, Halla, and Bronto mounts, possibly with some different coat/hide colors. Maybe we could even assign specific mounts (including pre-order mounts) to our party.

I still want a Wyvern mount though.

That will be exactly what the Inquisitor's enemies would say as I rode down the mountainside atop my eight legged steed.

 

Right before my mount kills them and eats them anyways.

I would really love a gryphon mount. I'd be interested if there were mount-related quests- perhaps getting a gryphon mount could be the result of a quest with the warden faction to search for the remaining gryphons (as a way to reach tears in the sky perhaps?)
Maybe the Dalish would gift the warden with a Halla for taking their side in the conflict. You never know!

Just pretend they are a big, creepy looking dog, or cat with eight legs.

 

Though I wonder, if I scratch my spider's belly does four legs twitch or just two?
