I'm guessing that 'big lizard' was referring to a wyvern, since we know they've been ridden in the past. That was unexpected and really awesome, and I shall assume it is the case for the moment.

 

Other than wyverns, though, bronto all the way.

I'd be fine with just about anything that isn't pink and squeaks, but what I really, really, really want to ride around on is a horse that is any colour but dark bay. I want a painted, white, or actual black, not dark, dark, dark brown that resembles black until the sun shines down on its coat and then you're like, "Da fuq is this?" I'm looking at YOU Skyrim!

 

I swear, if I wasn't so bloody terrified of pissing off a higher-up, I'd tweet and ask if Inquisition includes horses with more than one coat colour, but I really don't want to end up annoying 'em, so I'll just be patient and wait until the game hits to find out for myself.

To get back on topic...

 

I feel Wyverns are all but confirmed at this point. We know from the trailers that Wyverns are in the game to kill. We've also seen Duke Prosper riding one as a mount in Mark of the Assassin. And since the dev's have mentioned through press reviews the existance of a "Lizard like" mount, this makes the most amount of sense.

 

 

Beyond that I also want to see...

 

Griffons!

 

Sure they're exinct now, but dragons were also considered exitnct until not so long ago, hence the name of the age. So it's not a strech to bring them back as part of a custom Grey Warden side quest. Can you think of a better way to get them on your side? I'm sure they'll have a reason why the Inquisitor's mount doesn't fly ofcourse. Which I'm totally fine with.

 

Oh and of course.

 

Dragons!

 

It's the name of the game, after all, and at least they actually exist currently in Thedas. Sure there would also be reason why we'd end up with a smaller, non-flying version of a dragon, but no question that everyone will want one.

I'd like to see a variety of horse colors and a way to customize their caparisons and barding to various colors, patterns, sigils and such.  I know that probably brings Oblivion jokes (from the horse armor DLC) to mind.  But in general I've always like the horse-in-a-dress look.

To be honest, while I love riding awesome mounts like Wyverns or dragons, it always seems strange that you are riding around on a top-ofthe-food-chain predator and it never helps out in combat. A big giant Wyvern just sits there staring at a lowly human instead of pouncing on him and eating him.

I'd really like to see different variations of horses. Some that are slender and meant for distance riding and some that are more like cart pullers. I'd love to have a thick white horse with a pretty mane and make him look all Orlesian like. Actually, I'm just picturing Michels horse from The Masked Empire.

All that it would take for most breeds would be a re-texture so that's easy for a Bioware veteran. Horses like Australian Draught horse would need a bit more due to some other features.

What about a mount based on the Old Oak Tree from DAO. He could pick you up and carry you on his back and unlike all the rest give you some rhyming conversation on the way. "Dear old me, an old oak tree, the only mount who wont stop to pee."
