Are we ever gonna find out who it was? Dear Bioware, make it clear please.

Unless it's plot relevant, I don't really care if they reveal it personally.

Are we... supposed to care? I didn't realise there was any mystery around the issue.

I just ended up thinking it could be some supernatural father-- Maker or demon or something. Now I just can't get that outta my head.

I highly doubt that is the case.

Leliana's mother was a Fereldan, and she was, I think, already pregnant with Leliana when she was taken to Orlais.
I suspect Leliana's father is someone very ordinary.

You know what, I need to do this.
"There was no father. I carried her. I gave birth. I raised her. I can't explain what happened." ![]()

My theory would be that Leliana's father was an Orlesian soldier, and her mother left because being pregnant with an Orlesian soldier's child would be unpleasant in post-occupation Ferelden.
But I have no basis for that theory

I don't really think it matters who he was. And we already have an old companion with a big mystery about who one of their parents are (Alistair), so I'd rather not repeat that plot.

Leliana's father smelled of elderberries, that's all we need to know.
But really why does it matter or who really cares. Thousands (if not millions) of people grow up with out fathers, They're not really needed, nor are they important to the plot.

I actually don't get this 'am I supposed to care?' thing. No, none of you have to care if you don't want to. I care. I do care so I ask a question that bothers me. End of the line.

Maybe her father was a pretty pretty elf who was basically the pet servant for some orlesian noble.

why would it be something otherworldly? there's nothing special about her.
I take it you want to know who Isabela's father was too? or maybe Sten's parents? Wynne's? Morrigan's?
They're just faceless, possibly nameless characters.

We react in such a manner because the identity of Leliana's father is not relevant to anything in any way, shape, or form. It seems like a peculiar and random thing to ask about. This isn't something like the Old God Baby or Sandal where there are interesting things to speculate about. We've been given no indication that her father was anyone other than some Orlesian asswipe who doesn't matter at all.

Leliana's father is obviously the Chevalier that smells of sunflowers, and tracking him down will be a major sidequest for the Inquisitor.

Certainly possible! A somatic cell injected into an egg, and voila!
Though I don't know if that will work on humans. Something that needs to be tested, once I become a mad scientist.
Wait, what?

Why? It's never, ever made a thing. Never mentioned at all therefore I don't think it matters too much. I think if there was a passing reference made in a codex or in conversation? You are led to be curious, but you aren't led to even think about him, only her mother. Therefore I do not think it's important. Unless mentioned in Inquisition, I doubt it's of consequence. Just some chump somewhere.

Isn't there a problem with women not having a y chromosome or something?Certainly possible! A somatic cell injected into an egg, and voila!

Assuming it were possible to splice a fertilised egg together out of the DNA of two women (something science may eventually accomplish) any resulting child would simply be female.
