I'd kind of prefer not to have these sorts of ties go on for multiple games. It can kind of get hokey where everyone is the cousin or son or brother or clan member of someone else in this league of extraordinary killing machines spanning the saga. Anyway, Merrill's clan would definitely not be the best connection, unless it accounts for what you can do in DA2, and the pre-Inq elf comes back from a nice hunt in the woods, to find his entire clan wiped out lol.

I hope not da already have problem with ties that characters have to ridiculous degree when most old characters know each other or are tied other way like family...

It can have the unpleasant effect of making the game world seem much smaller. This is part of the reason why I don't want cameos unless that character has good, sensible reason to cross paths with our new PC.

I'd rather the Inquisitor be completely new and unconnected in all honesty. We already have returning companions connected to Hawke and The Warden. Having the Inquisitor have ties with them too (imo) would make the world seem far too small. Having a completely new guy/gal would help to make the world feel larger.

I'm more than fine with letting my Warden and Hawke stay retired and have no involvement with my Inquisitor.

I thought it was great for Merrill, but the Amell thing didn't matter (probably for the better). I don't see this as necessary again.

Isn't the dwarven inquisitor's sir name Cadash(did I spell it wright?), so wouldn't that mean they're related to Shale?

Oh yeah, forgot about that. That would be cool actually. And it's not like Shale would be a closely tied relative (we're talking dozens of generations apart, right?). It would also add something if ever went to that Thaig again. I think there's still much to be said about that. One of more interesting things about Witch Hunt.

I think they meant the clan in Nevarra where Merrill was born, not the clan run by Marethari.

I don't expect any ties to The Warden/Hawke but other companions maybe like the Cadash tie to Shale sure why not.
Maybe you can be connected as old friends or something like you met Zevran years ago and bacame friends you know stuff like that.

I'm assuming that if the Human Male Inquisitor is from the Circle, and an imported Warden is Circle magi then they probably met

It woul be cool to have a minor hint to it but id prefer that there is no real focus on the tie

Not necessarily. If the Warden was about 20 when (s)he left the circle with Duncan and Inquisitor is about 25 at the beginning of DAI, then our Quizzy would of been 15 when the Warden left. I don't know if you're old enough to know this, but 15 year olds can be extremely pretentious, its only noticeable after you are old enough to lose a little of the stupidity of youth (only a little, its an ongoing process, lol). So I doubt the Warden would of liked our inquisitor much if they even had known each other. And is it confirmed a human mage comes from the Ferelden circle and not the Orliesan or a Free Marchers Circle?

But the Inquisitor's age can range from 20-40, so it's still a possibility though I doubt it
we only know the Human Inquisitor last name which sounds Ferelden
