Why is 3/5 of the topics here regarding love interests and romance? Is that really the point of Dragon Age to a lot of people?

I'd say it's more like 4/5.

Kids are still being molded and developing. An adult should have better coping skills. Commiting suicide because of cheating is seriously overboard.

Adults cope better with rape than kids?

Yeah. Goes to show that a large majority of people are hopeless romantics.

Nothing wrong with liking romantic things. Why would there be an entire genre for every single form of media dedicated to it, then? Men are just not supposed to like romantic stuff because it's for girls.

I don't think that romance is just for girls, or that men aren't supposed to like romantic stuff.

I'm a guy, and I appreciate the romance content. I just don't think it's the be all and end all of the game. Let's not forget that this IS a game after all. With an actual plot, an interesting world to get lost in. Many interesting in-world issues to talk about, not to mention the actual gameplay aspects of it as well.

I just want to be clear that this isn't an attack on anyone, I actually like the romance content. I just view it as an added bonus to an already great game, not as though it's actually what the game is about.

LOT'S of people love the romances, and it's absolutely the most important part of the game for them, and that's fine. I just hope more information is announced soon so people will have something new to talk about. Although i'm aware that the majority of threads will still be dominated by romance discussion.  :P )

Seems like that's exactly what's being talked about.

It has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. What does rape have to do with anything? I was talking abot cheating. And trying to compare the fallout of that to pedophilia. lol

If that's what people think, you are insane. INSANE.

Cheating and pedophilia and rape are all bad, and I can easily compare them, nothing insane in that.

You sound like a Calvinist then. Heh. Which I'm sure you're not. But these are Calvinist like ethics.

"All sin is the same and deserves equal punishment" is basically their core tenet.

Im pretty sure he was talking about paedophilia vs. cheating. Nowhere was the rape of adults mentioned.

I assumed the OP meant things more like taking the dalish elf guys virginity in DAO, while your love interest was out of your party.

OK, I'm late to the party, but...what? You can seduce Cammen?  :o

10+ playthroughs, and I never realized that. Not that I would do it (I wouldn't).

Well I assume that pedophilia is rape. Since children can't really consent properly.

I dunno, I'd rather be raped than have my love cheat on me.

Pedophilia is rape, but adult rape has nothing to do with what I was talking about. Namely cheating. And I'm not interested in changing the subject and engaging in a fight I never even signed on to.

The argument is pedophilia vs cheating. If you want to create a new argument, I'll just stay out of it. Knock yourself out.

Cheating is as bad as pedophilia.

Whatever you say, Mr. Calvinist. :D

I think I'll be Catholic for this thread. Venial vs Mortal sins.

I guessed as much. It's a joke.

The point is that Calvinism's first tenet is "Total Depravity". That all sin is the same, and if you do one, it shows you're only worth the hottest fires of hell. They completely lack the ability to categorize anything.

No, I'm actually judging by picturing the act on myself. I mean I wasn't a victim of a pedophile but.. I dunno. I wouldn't want to be cheated on.

Cheating seems to be a relevant term only if one is caught in the act. Otherwise it is viewed as intelligence, no?

What's the point of being in a relationship if your only purpose is sex?

The whole fun is getting caught though, at least in Bioware games. Hell, my Mass Effect playthrough was utter depravity in the hope of a war breaking out on the Normandy. Sadly all I got was a couple catty lines in ME3.

Depends on people. I wouldn't get in a relationship with someone I didn't want to commit to either, but lots of people do. It's perfectly legit to have a relationship without loving your partner. One of my friend is hopeless at this. He cares about his girlfriend, but not enough not to cheat on her at least twice a month.

Your partner might be forced to travel because of their job. You might not be satisfied with your sex life. You might just be manipulative. You might just be used to it and see it as nothing wrong. There are many reasons for people to cheat. I think that if someone truly loves their partner, they won't cheat in any of these circumstances. But as I said, people can easily form a relationship without love.

What's the point of such a relationship? Just go for fwb.

Money. Fun. The thrill of manipulation and risk. Stability. The other person might not want just sex. Lust. Being bored with your partner without wanting to break up. Not everyone would do that, but there are many possible reasons.
