I'm not talking about the ability to have two love interests, but rather how the game will handle choosing between multiple characters. Sometimes the drama of a player character caught between two people can be an interesting twist for a playthrough and other times mistakes or ninjamancesand stuff can crop up.
I remember thinking Mass Effect 1 handled it really well (at least after the first patch) with a very straightforward confrontation scene, it cleared up any accidents or confusion and allowed players who wanted a love triangle story to have one.
Dragon Age 2 was much less clear. Two of the four love interests automatically arbitrarily overrode the others and there was no real warning about what the repercussions of having a fling would be.
I remember Origins was more similar to Mass Effect 1 and had several jealousy dialogues and Mass Effect 2 and 3 were kind of in between. Mass Effect 3 didn't have a whole lot in the way of love triangle content I think but it was pretty clear how it worked with locking romances in at some point (aside from the fact that nobody noticed Kelly).
If nothing else I would prefer a mechanic where you get to choose between paramours rather than one automatically cancelling the other.
