I run Windows 8, all the rest of my game is great, but I just can't open my toolset, it crashes after a split secound.

 

I downloaded the .net and all, but Direct X doesn't work with W8, so what do I do ?

Try running it in XP compatibility mode. That worked for me.

Yes, same here. It runs for me in Windows 8 with XP compatibility mode.

 

The one problem I'm still having on Windows 8 is that some changes made in the toolset don't show up until I reload an area. In particular, tinting modifications and changes to appearance often don't get updated. It's a definite annoyance.

Set up a windows XP virtual machine. Run it inside that. Works fine.
