No, I think I'm right. This was originally planned as a trilogy. The Trilogy will end the main storyline but there will still be spin offs like Mass Effect Kart, Mass Effect Guitar Hero, Bioware VS Capcom, Mass Effect MMORPG and of course the inevitable Mass Effect movie directed by Uwe Boll.

Mass Effect is a big franchise now and they'll keep churning out whatever piece of crap in a box they can so long as people still buy it on name alone.

Don't forget Super Mass Effect Melee, Mass Effect Galaxy 2 for the iPhone, Sim Citadel, Rach'ni-mon: Gotta Catch em All, and of course the characters can jump over in a BioWare vs Capcom, or a Mortal Kombat vs Mass Effect Universe game... awesome! just awesome!

A Mass Effect MMO would be the worst thing to hit this game. MMOs today are run of the mill heaps of crap.

Althought everything for a ME MMO is already in place I still say no! Too many whiners that ruin the community and the game iteslf.

To be fair, SW Galaxies started out strong and continued that way for a solid 2 years as the leading subscription based MMO untill SOE wrestled creative control from Verant Interactive. Only after the NGE was implemented did the bad reviews and press start pouring in.

I've never even played Galaxies, but to say it was a flop would be misinformed bull****.

As for TOR, you get your KoTOR 3,4,5,6 etc.. and then you get online play as well, how is that not the ultimate package? They can release expansions or updates for years, you essentially get a way more massive and immerse gaming experience with them taking this route then developing a new KoTOR game ever 2-3 years,

As for the OP's post, No. BioWare isn't known for selling out, especially with their own IP"s, I have every bit of faith that they will end the saga with the 3rd, leaving us with a solidified and memorable experience.

It's only the "ultimate package" if you are a PC gamer. If you are a console gamer that loved KOTOR, you get the shaft.

As somebody who played SWG since almost the beginning, other than the 500k furvor that was initially gotten due to it  being a Star Wars game, it was a flop.  Poorly developed, little polish, very difficult to get into.  The CU and NGE were done in an attempt to salvage the game.  It was born with a terminal illness.

As for TOR, yeah it's definitely going to be the ultimate package.

Oh and for those who might be interested in TOR, check out the Holonet Timeline.  That's the kind of effort and quality that they're putting into making a freaking FLASH.

I'm also a beginning member of SWG, the game started out way ahead of its time. People hadn't seen an MMO that advanced or with so many professions. The problems started when Jedi's came into the game. I did my hologrind and got into the Force Ranking System. Jedi were too overpowered and were unfair to the people who did not have time to do the hologrind. Once the CU hit it was all over for most people, and the NGE was the final blow

Hopefully Bioware can balance Jedi this time in TOR, It's not fun to have an army of Generals running around.

I would prefer something like the Borderlands co-op campaign model applied to a richer more story-driven Mass Effect universe. If done correctly, it could be amazing. There would have to be enough randomly/intelligently generated content to keep things feeling alive though.

naw... Mass Effect will return as a new trilogy for the next gen of consoles.

With better graphics and a new space hero. Set awhile after the events of Mass Effect 3. Perhaps with a new human spectre.

Untill then, I'd suspect Bioware to throw loads of DLC's at us. ME3 will probably come late 2011. they'll work on dlc's for half a year, and then they'll have the tools ready to make a next gen Mass Effect trilogy.

We'll see Mass Effect 4 late 2013. ME5 spring 2015, and ME6 fall 2016.

After that anything can happen...

damn mass effect 2 is barely a week old and people are already talking about mass effect 3 and what comes after???? chil people. but eh what the hell i'll join in the conversation lol

eh honestly mass effect 3 realistly wont come out until atleast 2012 or early 2013 b/c games like mass effect take more than a single year to fully develope. now as for a mmorpg....dude, serious? c'mon...i think mass effect will be turned into a full motion picture before that happens...

If ToR becomes a big hit and does well I wouldn't doubt we'd see a ME mmo sometime down the road.

Oh and people pirate mmos all the time. WoW has hundreds of private servers running right now.

A game like Mass Effect 3 does take longer than a year to develop. But given they already have the story set, and the universe pinned down, thats like cutting a year off the time they would otherwise need to make a new game. So for Mass Effect 3, I think we'll see it a year and 9 months after ME2. In other words, it would have taken then almoust 3 years to make the game if they started from scratch. Thats still a long time.

I must say that ME1 was a great game, and ME2 was the best Game I've ever played. What made them so great was well, everything. Like you guys have said it's captivating and immersive. You are Shepard. I believe that anything is possible. I personally would love to see an MMORPG of Mass Effect. I know it's, a plausible Suicide Mission for bioware like you guys have said. But then again isn't every game ever made a risk??? The hardest thing would be to en capture all of the Immersiveness and attention that Singleplayer gives you in a Multiplayer platform. But they have some of the best Game Developers @ Bioware and I know that this is an achievable dream guys. I mean what's better than seeing those amazing cinematics and going through epic missions alone???? The answer is when you have close friends to share it with. I'd say if they were to do this then they'd have to make it focused around squads, close friends, 3 to a squad like the original ME's and it would be an epic experience. New DLC's etc. obviously payed for by a monthly charge, but still I'd pay 20$ a month for a neverending ME experience. Make it before or after the ME series and the entire universe is open and fair game....constantly updating storyline, Clans would have their own ships/bases and would be a group of all your potential squad mates; expanding on that each clan could inhabit a planet for it's resources and maybe Bioware could expand on that somehow w/ clan battles over the planets or something!?!?! Its all fair game but there is room for an MMO, plenty of Room....What would Shepard Do?!?!?!? He'd say FUDGE YEA!

p.s. I'd hate to see the best Game Series ever released ended. The 3rd game should pwn the last 2 if they keep up the good work, but still....seriously guys do you want it to end? If they do make it the right way.....why end?

Lol, Actually putting everything in perspective...I believe they will but not for sometime. I mean look at it. They're working on the third compilation to a very successful series. They've claimed that their will be another one after the third, and they're even making a movie. Also if you look at TOR, even though it's its own game I believe it is a sort of stepping stone to get to a ME mmo....they totally should.

Also, for those of you who say that oh no screw that noise, they shuld make a Dragon Age one, there are way too many fantasy games out there now why add another to the crapper???  an ME  mmo would sell hella big time.

You know just because you won't buy it doesn't mean others won't or that it shouldn't be made. I believe that one of the main things that people see as a bad thing is that "It would ruin the epic storyline of Shepard and the Mass Effect original Trilogy." Well My answer to this is that Hell guys, YES they should end the main story of Shepard with the Trilogy, but ****...don't end the universe. An MMO would have no effect on the storyline especially if it came after. The people who dont want to buy it dont have to but if they make an mmo it opens a world of endless possibilities that only enhance and expand on the original ME storyline and Universe. Don't be all naggy naggy.

Problem with this idea is the same reason Blizzard hasn't done another WoW or Universe of StarCraft. They'd be competing with themselves.

You honestly think Bioware doesn't have enough on their hands MMO wise with The Old Republic?

Why resurrect a thread about a game that hasn't been announced in any way, shape or form. It's not really an approrpiate topic, especially one with as much speculation as this one has.

End of line.
