We need more magic weapons, like cards/talismens/charms that fly around like a swarm of anger dagger bees, slicing stuff apart in a flurry.
Warriors can get polearms, and rogues can get fancy stuff like traps, rope darts, grenades, and mega-bows.
Mages on the other hand, well it'd be nice to have something a bit more flashy to compliment out magical powers.
I want some of what that brown knight's got:

You hurl balls of fire, call forth lightning on cloudless day, create a wall of ice, reanimate the dead and turn people into bombs. how do you need unrealistic weapons to be flashy? I like that Dragon age has stuck to interpretations of real life weapons rather than going full on Dynasty Warriors with this. I still think a scepter would be the best addition for mages. more of a shotgun to the staffs rifle if you get my meaning.

The thread said what weapons would you like to see. Nothing ever entered the conversation about need.

yes and I'm doing my best squash implausible ideas so that we don't get a repeat of that DW warrior guy. got to make sure people don't start thinking they can demand **** Bioware.
Dynasty warriors has some of the best weapon ideas, in my opinion, because they're a lot like Lamborghini. They make it for fun, and everything after that is a nice secondary bonus.
whatever floats your boat bro. Just a reminder that DA:I is not supposed to be some simple and basic hack n' slash game.

Is this actual medieval artwork? If so... holy ****.
harps aren't weapons. what am I gonna do play a melody thats so bad it makes them want to kill themselves? the only instrument I will accept as a weapon is an electric guitar. 'Cause Brutal Legend.

If you don't want to use a musical instrument as weapon or object against enemies, don't use it. It's so simple.
Again, I ask about magical weapon. Musical instrument can use sound waves or strings.
Summon magical strings to hold an enemy or even slice it.
But... you'd hear the same sound. You'd lose your own focus.
But... you'd hear the same sound. You'd lose your own focus.
All can use it against you.
Then you can use this concept against swords, daggers, fire spells.
You'd cut and burn your hands.
We need more creative ideas for weapons here. Like a cat flail (i.e., a flail made out of cats) or sword chucks.

It's magic.

I can get behind sword chucks. +1 for the reference.

Sound waves can disturb an enemy so losing his focus.
but is there any basis in any of the previous games for that? the bard class had you singing not jamming on a lute. the only way I would accept instrument weapons as plausible is if they were purely for buffing and couldn't do anything else.

In NWN2 game, Bards has a lot of songs and inspirations to improve offensive and defensive attributes, so many cool buffs and can curse enemies.
We can see something like that in DAI too.
And I don't see a problem with sonic damage.

Oh I'm so sorry I thought I was on the Dragon Age forums not the NWN2 forums. DA:O had a bard that sang songs to buff, DA2 had nothing of the sort, DA:I so far nothing musically related has been mentioned. There is no basis for magical sound wave weapons in the dragon age universe.
When playing with magic anything is possible. Why can't we have new weapons like that. I say more weapons more choices equals more variety and fun.
I would like to see different fighting styles, which would allow the uniqueness of different weapons. Rapiers and the like would be interesting if they could flesh out the duelist spec some more. Like the difference between Sword/Shield and Greatsword for warriors. I'd like to be a rogue, but have a less cliche archetype than the dual-dagger-backstabber. I guess you could say I want to front-stab my enemies.
And I have ALWAYS wanted to see distinct and noticeable advantages for different weapon types (sword/mace/axe(there's a little diff with armor pen. but I cant tell the diff). I mean what's the point of acknowledging different weapon types if they aren't different enough? So if you had your Messer or Falchion, how would those be any different than "longsword?"
Spears though? Either you would dominate your enemies at long range, or they would get close range and dominate you. Neither option is good. On NPC's that'd be awesome though.
It's not a matter of ignoring it, it's the fact that they aren't meant for the dragon age universe, the style dragon age uses would make the addition of such weapons seem very out of place. Instruments and fans just don't make sense in the franchise. Everything we use IS a weapon regardless to whether it's enchanted or not, at the very least the equipment we use are weapons. Nothing in the lore supports such extreme fantastical weapons making it incompatible with the game.

Second, although, brownie here seems to enjoy difficult separations.
