I own this sword, its one heck of a cutter. Is like a greatsword and a saber had a baby.
Jealousy! Im a big of swords that can win a fight off of intimidation alone.

I'm a professional weight lifter and been to many medieval festivals carrying that sword, I've been told that I do look quite intimidating. ![]()
Enough self-praise for now, I'd like to see more love for blunt weapons in DAI. I'm a big fan of flanged maces.

Would love to see a spear/lance make its way into the game, specific to two handed fighters.
Caestus, Tekko and otherwise general fist weapons as fisting is never bad...

but at least you can use a staff for melee. what am I supposed to do with a crystal ball? a scepter would be a better option.
A scepter is just a staff chopped in half, that's way boring. What are you going to do with a bow in close combat? At least a solid crystal ball is weighty enough to bash someone's skull in. Like bows are the ranged option for rogues, the crystall balls could have a greater range for mages and maybe have secondary elemental effects, whilst staves only have one but they're more versatile in range.
Tables, Ladders and Chairs
first one: no, it has nowhere near any practicality in close combat.
second one.: those look like glorified brass knuckles made out of antler. antlers are very frail to begin with.
...I don't think the entire THING is made out of antler, only the grip is(that, or the name comes from their shape, not their material). Also, they appear to be bladed, so I imagine you would be doing a lot more slashing than punching.
*snip
That variation of the greatsword is already in the game, you can see it in the demo
pfft Dragon age need gunblades.
oh good god

I'm boring, I like my weapons to look practical. Flanged style maces, basic straight swords and bearded axes.
I do have a particular soft spot for Thrusting swords like the Colichemarde

And Estoc

Tables, Ladders and Chairs
Actually in a bar fight that'd be cool! Though you might want to be a Qunari for the first 2 lol
Double bladed sword.

They should add the greatest sword ever made:

Double bladed sword.
Maybe the Qunari have them on Par Vollen
doesnt fit for the medieval style
But Dragon Age is not just based on the medieval world. And more importantly, it's not historical. So it shouldn't be limited by that.

It definitely is based on the medieval world, its just in my opinion that it wouldnt fit well in DA

It is, I'm only saying there is much more to it.
Kirkwall in DA2 for example, it has nothing to do with a medieval setting.

Definitely but in weaponry and armor there is a prominent medieval influence no doubt, the sword itself is too short for the game mechanics as well unless they consider it a large dagger
Gladius' could be cool, but personally I prefer hilt guards on my swords so my fingers don't get chopped off.

Thats the thing its almost useless without a shield and a group of guys in formation. I'd love it as two daggers for rogues
Still love the style of this sword from LotR...
