I hope you're kidding. I hate it when I have to go on rants about how stupid and ineffectual whips would be in combat.

Yes, but I'd love to see you rant lol

I will indulge you a little. The whip has for the most part been a tool of punishment and herding throughout its history. there are very few instance where a whip or whip like item is used in combat even rarer still were the ones that were actually effective. People like to quote the Kusari Gama and rope dart and weighted-end whips; all of these are simply very fancy and flashy weapons that were very specific in their use and not used at all like people think they were. The Kusari Gama's chain was used to trip up samurai so the the wielder could kill them a little more easily, the rope dart was similar in that it was meant to disable not kill and the weighted whips? those were pretty much use for disabling or being use like a long ass flail. I true whip would be completely useless in a stand up fight against a decently armored opponent. you would have to hit them hard enough to knock them down so you can finish them of with a dagger. they pretty glance of any decent metal plate armor. Mail and leather armors would even do a good job against it. unless you trained with a whip to the same extent as the one of those trickshot rodeo guys that can hit the golf ball out of the air than you would literally be a sitting duck. other than how ineffective a whip would be at combat, it would most likely be very difficult to make smooth not blurry combat animations with them. there would be little to no variety in the models too,
Yes to rapiers.

Tea Cups, only real pro can kill with tea cups
is this from Riddick cause I think riddick did that.
Not too good for combat, but what about a blowgun for a Rogue when using stealth. Knock out a guard and steal the loot sort of thing.
A Flame-bladed sword would be nice. either as a onehanded or a twohanded.
I'd LOVE rapiers. But only if they were given the unique animations they'd require. You don't fight with a rapier the same way you'd fight with a longsword.
Personally, I don't need the correct animations. It'd be nice but it's far from necessary for me.
this whole topic has ridiculous weapon suggestions on every page. Chakrams, Scythes, Flails (not saying they are bad weapons but it would take them a lot of time time do extra animations for them) and rope darts. You know what would be a good weapon? any practical weapon that would be easy to put into the game. that means no new animations that might push back release time.
That's kind of the point.
New weapon styles with their own animation sets that add variety and depth to gameplay, and balance well. Different blades, blunt weapons, and axe type weapons should've always had unique animation sets anyway. I generally prefer 'easy' to be low on the list of considerations, but these have pretty much been suggestions for years, and for future DAs, if that helps, not that I think all of them would work particularly well.
New weapon models are nice and all, but more unique
styles and skill trees are better. For whenever. ![]()
A Khopesh. I love them.
Wow I've never seen anything like it:

Another automatic crossbow apart from Bianca. Why not? ![]()
Vigilance!
How could I forget the Vigilance!

"The Commander's blade, Vigilance, crafted from the bones of an ancient dragon, was boldly stolen by Antivan Crows. The blade changed hands many times thereafter, with some master swordsmen pursuing the weapon their entire lives. Some claim that this legendary blade has had a life of its own and that its power is steadily growing."
Awesome post Todd!
Magical brass knuckles to punch dragons in the face.
I want more uncommon weapons as:- chains- whips- harps- flutes- guitars- talisman cards- fans- orbs- claws- brushes- scrollsBe creative and open your mind to imagine cool moves for them.
The only thing on your list that is an actual weapon are claws. I'll give scrolls and talismans a pass so long as they're magical. Aside from that, none of those things are effective weapons in combat. The only place where you'll see objects like that portrayed as weapons is in anime. The Rule of Cool only goes so far in certain genres.
Personally, I'd like to see proper polearms in Dragon Age -- lances, spears, halberds, and such. A different sort of mage weapon would also be nice. Not sure if the tome we've seen in trailers counts, but that's headed down the right path in my opinion.
Apparently there is a scythe in DAII called the Magister's Scythe. It can be purchased in The Black Emporium.
Anyway here are some cool weapons that could be used I particularly like the Chu-Ko-Nu because of Bianca it is very lore friendly. The Chakram would be cool for ranged combat for a Rogue who could switch to swords when needed.
Yeah, that "Scythe" was a friggen AXE! I was rather disappointed.

Hi JokeDealer ^^
Yes, you are right, but I am thinking a type of magical weapons and not some kind of melee.
The falcata. Ancient Roman origin, similar to the kukri but much larger. Centuries out of place, but just for pure aesthetics it would look great.

I want a spear/staff for mages that use the Arishok's impale animation for a blood magic spell; and a walking bomb/force push combo for the Night Enchanter spec.
