Rumple has truly turned over a new leaf. Instead of straight up killing mooks, he's just the worlds biggest troll now.

Hmm I like Emma and Hook, but these actors have NO chemistry together whatsoever. That kiss just looked painful for them.

 

Also Charmings face when Snow told him she wouldn't be able to go on if anything ever happened to him was priceless like a deer caught in the headlights.

 

I get the sneaking suspicion Rumple and Pan are related. I find the way Rumple keeps wording what would happen to him if he fought Pan to be rather curious since it seems to imply they're lives are directly connected, but that could just be me reading too much into things.

I honestly have no idea where they're taking his character.

Though I have a suspicion that the reason he's interested in the hat is that he wants to ressurect Neil.

Also, Anna... Didn't expect to see her back in Arendelle so soon.

Yeah, no idea where this is headed in the long run though

I miss the old Rumple.. Sure, his character right now isn't bad, he's actually still decent, but he doesn't have that same charm I fell in love with back in the first episode

Also death to Snow and Charming! I think I'm at that point where I'm just going to start fast forwarding through their scenes... Too much angsty idealism for me.

I feel like they don't know where exactly to go with him. First he's evil, then he's getting his redemption, then he's evil again, then he's getting redeemed... But surprise, his redemption is a lie! There's no real direction to his character arc, he's just kind of doing whatever the plot at the time demands he do. I've mostly lost interest because of that.

This is the problem with shows that have a beginning, a very long middle, and no ending, or one that is just slapped on after many years of just making things up as they go along.

Even the best concepts and characters eventually wear themselves thin from the lack of direction.

What really frustrates me is that they haven't given us the slightest hint as to why he's doing these thing, lying to everyone about the Snow Queen and the hat. It just comes out of nowhere. I'm hoping that the motivation will make this all seem sensible, but I'm not that hopeful.

Yeah. I think they had a great start with him, but the lack of foreseeable conclusion to his character makes him feel redundant. They tried to redeem him too early, imo, which means now they're trying to keep redemption open for him while also allowing him to fulfill his role in the overarching plot. Very shoddily handled.

I actually thought they handled his redemption very well, but now they're ruining it by trying to un-redeem him.

Regina is having a similar issue too.

Admittedly I'm liking her a bit better this season (im still on 3 btw)then I did last one since so far just because she's been a bit more consistent, but I don't know where they are going with her or whether they even know.

Still on 3? Well, I actually think she's turned out pretty well here in 4. For while it looked like she was going evil(again), but instead they did something different with it. Mi'm actually liking that part of (Where in 3 are you?)

First Season Regina is my favourite. Unrepentantly evil but with a powerful incentive to protect Henry to show she's not actually a bad person.

It's a bit hard for TV series to pace their narrative arcs when they often don't know exactly how many episodes/seasons they have to work with.

Which is a flaw for these type of shows in my books. A solid beginning, middle and end is important. When one aspect drags it pulls the whole story down. A story works with all its parts as a whole.
