Celene >

Also, it's concept art? How many conceptual pieces have we seen that look nothing like the actual in-game model? pls.

Not only that, it's obviously some very early and rough concept. The dead giveaway should be the hands gripping the Mask-Staff thing. Where as the illustration on The Mask Empire is a final version of a heavily iterated work.

I like the design of ME more than the new one.

I can't wait for my Qunquisitor to interact with her. A clash of cultures and wit. :P

'Tell me of your people your Eminence.'

'My people? Your Radiance?'

'The Qunari of course. We know so little about them. A chance to speak to one is a rare opportunity.'

'I am not Qunari.'

'Surely you jest. Am I to believe you are simply a tall elf with horns?'

'That would be a far simpler explanation.'

'But if you are not Qunari, then what is your races name?'

'.....What?'

'Surely you must have a name for your kind.'

'We do not.'

'Why not?'

'The same reason why we have no name for the planet. No one came up with a good one.'

I wonder what dialogue between Gaspard and my Qunquisitor will be like?

'I have heard much of the Qunari, a race capable of stalemating all of Thedas is not something to be ignored or forgotten.'

'I am afraid you'll have to wait longer to meet them your Grace, I am not Qunari.'

'Am I supposed to take it you are a human with knife ears, silver skin and horns.'

'Very imaginative your Grace. Most people go for 'oxman','heathen' or 'heretic'.'

'That's rather rude of them.'

'Of course they usually run away before I can correct them'.

'You kill peasants because of their ignorance?'

'Why would I do that?'

'My apologies. The way so said 'correct them' I got the impression that you killed them.'

'Of course not your Grace. Killing people is easy, being politically correct is a pain in the ass.'

I'll tell you this much; at no point in time will I refer to her as "Your Grace" or "Your Radiance" or any of that nonsense. If I'm feeling polite, I'll call her Empress.

I should have pointed out that I have always maintained that Celene is flawed compassionate where Gaspard is flawed honourable. So I don't see it as black and white. It's your version of grey I don't agree with. But I guess I'll answer your points, I hope you don't mind if I break them up because it will be easier for me.

*snip*

Anyway, I didn't intend to get into a debate. I just wanted to say that Celene is flawed, but not a monster. I thought what you said about her being uncaring towards her people was unfair. So I'll leave it at that.

Sure, neither of them is perfect. Gaspard out and out admits that part of the reason for his betrayal is to gain power for himself, and he doesn't like elves (I don't think he actively dislikes them either, so he has no qualms either killing or helping them, whichever is in his own best interests), or social progress (although at the end when he and Michel are talking he does make a good leap in reconizing Michel as a true Chevalier).

So neither is a true 'good' character, they each have their pros and cons.

Another Orlesian for me to hopefully wipe from the face of Thedas.

I feel like Gaspard's fanbase conflate modern conceptions of knights in armour with orlesian chevaliers when they are not quite the same. Gaspard has a code. A code is not the same as morality. It's a set of self imposed rules. The Qunari consider themselves honourable and will do so as they pelt enemy forces with poison gas, rip children form their parents and murder civilians who won't convert. As long as they don't drop their weapon things are golden. And so it is with chevalier.

There's a woman named Liselle in denerim's market district in origins. She's not attached to any quests so you can skip her easily, but she presents some rather unflattering facts about Chevalier. Namely that their honour code does not prevent them from raping commoners and in fact attempting to STOP one of them from doing so is a crime. Roll that around in your head for awhile. According to the honour code that Gaspard holds sacred above all else, a guy like Bann Vaughn did NOTHING wrong. Not quite such an honourable gentleman now, is he?

And while he may no longer be against re-invading ferelden for the risk it would pose to orlais, he clearly doesn't see anything wrong with what went on during the occupation. For more info on what on during the occupation of ferelden, read stolen throne. You know that bit in origin where Loghain angrily asks the landsmeet "which of you stood with me and maric while the orlesians flattened your fields and raped your wives"? Yeah, that was not hyperbole. He's speaking from experience. The orlesian occupation wasn't like the american revolution where fereldens got tired to paying too much for tea. It was like nanjing under imperial japan.

Take a look at the parts of orlesian society Gaspard holds sacred and it is pretty impossible to think of him as anything other than a villain. Maybe a tragic one who is too stupid to know why he's a villain. Maybe not a mustache twirling villain like Vaughn or Howe, but still the things he stands for are monstrous.

And that is why I intend to have my inquisitor kill him at the first opportunity. Hopefully in pubic and surrounded by his freinds.

Kicking Gaspard's ass as a female Elf would be hilarity.

If only it could be a female CE ;_;

And it always have been because of social layers. This is Medieval. Celene isn't better than him you know- burn alianage and ordered to kill Bri's parents. At least he wants to stop the Game but she supports it.

Don't forget that part of a chevalier's initiation is murdering City Elves.

Yeah, no City Elf is still worst news of Inquisition.  :crying:

And? If you're trying to excuse murder, racism is not a good way to go about it.

Who else do you want warriors to be trained to kill? In special parts of armies today people trained to kill too. Chevaliers are an elite part of army.

I want warriors to be trained to kill other warriors, not defenseless civilians. You can train people to be able to kill without them actually needing to kill.

I'm going to have my Dalish be rebellious against the Dalish ways. She's based on Toph so she's the Tophquisitor. ^_^

Speaking of history, we also imprisoned or executed soldiers who committed such barbarism as war criminals. Something I plan to do to the Chevaliers.

I mean our Medieval history. They are just knights as they were in our world not stereotipical paladins from fantasy.
