Ok from what I have heard so far (please correct me if I am wrong) But the people of thedas are going to have the "your the makers chosen mind set" and worship you or something of that nature. But we will also have the choice to deny it, as in I am just some random person that got pushed into the fade and got marked by someone and now oh look I can close rifts! Which is cool! I am wondering if we deny being some "instrument of the maker" will we be regarded differently? like instead of our soldiers calling us you his or her "Eminence" they could simply say My Lady or Lord? I mean I am pretty sure we can deny it right? at least I plan too if possible! 

 

What are your thoughts?

I feel conflicted. I want to be worshiped but not because Im some "Maker Sent Savior". Hopefully we can sway it for the different races like: As a Dalish you can say that the Creators sent you or something.

Ikr if I am a dwarf or a Qunari I don't want to be all like maker this and maker that, I want to be like "are you crazy, I am not the makers chosen" I mean I want to help restore order but I am not some chosen instrument of the maker!

Even if you deny it, I doubt they'll stop calling you Eminence.

I thought that DAI wasn't one of his stories, like DA2 was. As for why someone would deny that they're Chosen one... well, what if someone honestly doesn't feel particulary chosen, just lucky to walk out alive? Or maybe they want to pull a Varric and confuse everyone?

I see it already we have some quest where people believe we are god because of Varric.

Calling yourself the maker's chosen without being proclaimed as such by the chantry is most certainly heresy. So yes, I hope we can deny it if we don't want to antagonise them.

 

As for the titles and styles, I don't feel like the world of dragon age is very heavy on formalities. There is "His Majesty" for the king, "Her Grace" for Elthina and maybe a "my lord" from time to time. But for example, if I remember correctly Hawke speaks to Viscount Dumar as if he were a random dock worker. And I actually prefer it that way, otherwise I'd need a 4th dialogue option to go mad each time a peasant fails to properly adress me.

And I doubt your decisions in this regard will effect the world too much and the people view the Inquisitor for two reasons.  A. The Inquisitor's reputation probably will spread much faster then the Inqusition, so when you get to an area people will already know of your story and...the counter might not be true.  So they will treat you how they will.  B. Religious belief/ Hero worship is a funny thing and people usually form strict and unyielding opinions on that regard.  So even if you insist that no absolutly not you are not the chosen, someone will probably go 'oh look at the Maker's Chosen! how humble!' *genuflects*.  And if you agree with a person who thinks you are not the Maker's Chosen...well obviously they may gloat.  As much credit I give to BioWare I think the day to day NPCs will have their opinion of you no matter what.

I can't decide whether I want my Inquisitor to find the whole idea absolutely hilarious and really ham it up (with Varric in tow telling tall stories) or to be really really perplexed about the whole thing and frustrated that people are trying to insist that they are special. I hope to be able to do both

Your Worship is a title, it doesn't mean they actually worship you.
