I recently started building a drow city for the small PW I run with some friends. I have made a custom hak for it and placed all of the files into it. I added new entries from its placeables.2da into ours as well. The module uses the hak it was imported into.

The appearances are unavailable in the toolset. I came across a similar post with a google search on Nexus mods, but his issue was with this mod not having models show up in the toolset. I cannot even get them to be added to the appearance list.

Any ideas?

That usually happens to me when the model name entries added to the placeables.2da file don't match the actual model names. Or you could have row number conflicts happening somewhere.

Thanks for the reply, rjshae. I checked the model names again to make sure, they look like they match the actual file names. That issue usually still lets the file appear in the appearance list. You are referring to the model name issue where you can select it in appearance, but the model is invisible in the toolset, correct?

Unlike the person on Nexus Mods I cannot even get these things to appear in the available appearance list. I have tried importing the models via .erf as well. From his/her post, it looked like they did not figure out their issue with this particular model pack.

By row number conflicts, do you mean in the case of duplicate placeable.2da files? I only have one in the override, none in the haks. I tried putting it in the hak file as well. The models still appear to not be available to the toolset. The custom models I made and the Mysteries of Westgate models appear just fine.

Well no, I meant the row numbers inside the placeables.2da file. Do the new entries have unique row identifiers not appearing elsewhere in the file?

Have you looked at the very bottom of the Appearance menu to see if they show up there? I've had that happen.

Other than that... mmm, are there Dialog.tlk identifiers in the new row entries or have you replaced them with '****'?

Sorry if I'm being too obvious here; just making WAGs.

Which placeable set are you using?

These are my first thoughts:

1. as RJS says, you may have a conflicting 2da. Override is at the bottom of the pile so the campaign folder or hak are the places to look. MoW has a haked 2da I think have you extracted that? you say you have tried it in the Hak but it still may not come out as top dog

2.Some modders prefix their model names with a ! SJK, or _ that means they are not going to be where you think they should in the appearance drop down.

Override seems to have priority over Campaign (but not .Hak)

here's the list I use:
1. hak
2. override
3. campaign
4. module
5. stock

tested scripts and .2das / over & out ...

I though over ride and campaign were the other way round?

i use custom scripts to override 3rd party campaign scripts, in Override, and i just ran a test on a simple .2da file

no biggie but am sure that's how it is, PJ

Thanks for all of the input guys, I appreciate it! I found the issue, since I just copied the 2da entries from the 2da that came with the pack, it had some string entries the original author had put in there for some reason. Changing those to "****" fixed the problem. Hopefully this will help anyone who encounters the same issue in the future.
