I'm really starting to hate use of Rockets outside of emergency use. Am I the only one?

I mean, stuff like Target objectives are like the best waves in a game if done without Rockets. Rockets just puts a total stop to this fun, in my opinion. Of course if I'm playing with some pretty lousy pugs and I see they're struggling or it's the last wave of a Cerberus match and I think they're going to get chewed by the Phantom death squad or something along them lines. Then yes, I will  try to place a well timed rocket to change it to something like an Engineer or just fire all four Rockets in haste, if more haste is needed? Generally still in the emergency use only type thing. Along the lines with other stuff like making saving someone possible if only a rocket were to be used and such. Not for Targets & not for Spawn nuking (and again, if find I'm not having fun and just want the match to end ASAP & put an end to my misery, lol.... could this be why everyone rockets too? lol)

I also hear some find fun in speed running. Well that fine too, but I don't think it should be done in pugging where most folks can't or know how to match your most likely very insane dps setup.

So yes, discuss, derail, or whatever BSNers do?

Rockets are there for one reason, and one only: rage.

Rocket Rage is always fun. I always love a good explosion. i do wish that Bioware will allow us to +100 for all of our kits. For more boom.

I do use them on swamers occassionally for the lulz.

Or if a particular enemy cheapshots me (this could count as Rage though).

I rocket all the things, without hesitation.

I nuke big spawns, targets to force a switch, anything that looks like a problem (swarm of enemies over a fallen teammate), cut paths through to the extraction circle, mobs of 3+ Phantoms, or anything else that I feel like.. I just don't spawn nuke on objective waves or extraction bc that's stupid, pointless scorewhoring. Everything else is fair game.

I don't mind. I find it irritating on extraction, or when people missle on objective waves when it isn't necessary. I was carrying an objective once with a clear path and a pug nuked a spawn behind me, clear across the map, and they spawned in front of me. I turned around to go another way and as soon as I'm clear, he rockets that group and force them to spawn in front of me again. He did it one more time before I HAD to get on the mic to tell him to stop. I still have a few UR to get, so the faster we clear a match the better for me, so I'm all for nuking at the beginning of waves 7, 8, and 9 (on Gold) just to make the run a little faster.

If you're not missiling Swarmers, Turrets, Prime pets, and Seeker Swarms, then you're doing it wrong.

By emergency do you mean, saving them for extraction spawn nuking in case of getting out scored by a pug?

I did get a 4 phantom spawn once with a rocket.  Instant chubby. :D

This would actually make a really rad Thunderdome.

Cobras only. Game continues until everyone is out of Cobras. Person with the highest score wins. Killing anything with something other than Cobra is an automatic disqualification.

I'm going to switch the target on the assassinate wave if I can.

I might rocket if I am in a game and keep getting killed due to some shenanigans.  In which case there is a good chance that 4-6 will be fired at one time.

If I am in a random game that has been going slowly for whatever reason, then I will consider spawn nuking late waves to speed them up, but I will keep some missiles in reserve for Wave 10.

Any Geth is fair game for a missile, so far as I'm concerned. Cheating robot bastards. No less than they deserve.

I still have a ton of URs to get too. But I'm not going to grind for them. So fun comes first. If I'm not having fun, it's a grind. And rocketing for sake of speed running is not my thing, thus not fun for me. And I'm realizing more and more that the game is way more fun when no rockets are used. They should only be used for an emergency, saving a downed person, or extraction (cause I don't care about score horing, so go nuts), etc.

But lets take the Target objectives? Haven't any of you done it without rocketing at all? I really find them without rockets to be the highlight of the game.

Its up to them how they use their rockets,

Never had any problems with people using rockets, they are there and everyone has them, not many emergency uses outside of objectives. Most times after extraction everyone in my group only used like one or two if that. Rarely need rockets when you got ammo.

Takes only one rocket to save the day, and I usually have 6.

Never understood why people nuke spawns on extraction, especially after they barely scraped through the last 3 waves and are nowhere near top score anyway - yet so many people do it

If I'm well stocked up on rockets I'll use all 6 of them liberally just to make things go a bit smoother towards the end. And sometimes I'll Cobra a couple of targets on wave 6 knowing that my teammates will probably be saving theirs for wave 10. As long as it's just to make the game go quicker it's fine imo.

If I don't nuke the targets with rockets.. I'll just thermal clip them to death.

I only really use rockets for saving teammates and objectives, everything else I prefer to kill the proper way, it's far more fun :P

The only time other peoples rocket usage annoys me is if I've just thrown 2 or 3 grenades into a large group of enemies to soften them up and then someone runs in and nukes the lot of them <_<

1) I still have fun, even when I nuke a spawn per wave near the end.

2) I don't feel like it's a grind, if it felt like that I would stop playing.

3) If I'm in a game and I need more than 3 rockets (assuming I used one on each wave 7, 8, and 9) to save teammates or clear a path for extraction then I've probably left my teammates to die a long time ago if they keep putting themselves in those sitations. Further onto this point I use rockets for the same reason I use any other piece of equipment, to make the game faster. I use ops packs because I don't want to waste time hiding around a corner to regen, I use thermal clips to save me from running to the ammo box, and I use medi gel If I don't want to wait and see if someone is going to run to pick me up. If I know someone is there I'll wait, but again, if I'm dying more than 6 times a game that's a pretty horrible game for me to have.

4) Yes I've done target objective waves without nuking, but that tends to be when I'm on a team that can deal the damage. I don't find it fun to stand there and whittle down a health bar on the bosses for a while if I don't have to. It's why I don't play a ton of platinum because killing the mooks in gold is much more fun.

To each their own, I'll never get mad at someone for not using rockets (unless it's in the situations I described in my above post). Well, and if I'm running into a spawn to nuke and a missle comes flying from behind me to do the same thing, yeah that's pretty annoying. If I see someone with their rockets out, I tend to go the other way so we don't waste one. Medi gels, maybe, if it's over and over again of them bleeding out.
