its because as a SPECIES we are competitive, its in out DNA in greater or lesser degrees... Evolution is simply another form of 'competition' those species that learned to evolve were better at 'competing' for food, mating rights etc.

we 'compete' in school for the best grades, we 'compete' in sports(ok perhaps not many gamers but I digress :P ), we 'compete' attempting to find a job, we compete for women/men etc.... some take games too seriously-which is fine-whatever floats your boat...  if someone is 'kill stealing' and manages to kill the entire map during a pug I'm in.. I thank them for the easy ME3 MP game...

The answer is simple: it's in their nature. If someone is competitive, they're gonna be competitive; it doesn't matter if it's a co-op setting, or not. They wanna be on top, and won't be happy unless they are. This doesn't always manifest itself in a negative way. Some just end up trying harder, others just end up b__ching harder.

Whatever the case. We're not obligated to deal with them--especially online. Leave the game, mute 'em, or engage in possibly (everybody deserves a chance... Right?) futile verbal-mortal-kombat. The choice is yours, just like the choice was theirs to be that way.

This pretty much. Everybody has different ideas about what they consider fun and some people just need to be on top to feel good.

I don't care if I'm on top, on bottom, or in the middle. What's important to me is that everyone does what they can to have fun, work together, and make it to a full extraction.

...to be followed by more insertion and more extraction if the first time was enjoyable enough for all and the players aren't yet exhausted.

Agreed. I don't mind being dominated by the right person(s).

As much as it is an innuendo it is also true. I don't mind letting someone dominate the scoreboard if I know who they are. An example is Argent, who is someone that I know can make any game reach extraction, so I don't mind taking silly builds and letting her dominate.

No idea, voices sounded deep enough to be either teenagers or adults, but when i asked their age they dodged that subject. The way they acted suggested they weren't adults though, so most likely teenagers.

OP it's happened to me every so often, I just leave the lobby afterwards. One time I was a Jugg and wasn't meleeing everything but using my gun, and thus (somehow) sadly outscoring a Talon merc.

Usually in these games I'll stop reviving them and if I clutch I might just troll them and drag out the last couple of kills. With any luck they'll leave and I can get the chance to play with people that are trying.

I dropped into a match last week where the host was bitching at another random to quit spamming dark channel. True story.

xcal doesn't actually get on the mic during the match, does he?

I noticed he did accuse me of stealing his kills in one of the games I played with him though. In the commentary that is, after I was told I was in a game with him. :)

In his gameplay vids he would sometimes turn down the sound effects volume when he played with a DC spammer. Not that I'm complaining about his videos, they are very educational :)

when people get butthurt about me "stealing kills" and ****** over the mic, it just gives me even more reason to kill everything before they can.  :D

Yeah it's supposed to be co-op but inevitably, the scoreboard at the end gives the impression that I should care about how I did in comparison to the other 3 players.

I only like being competitive with people who can compete back. Pugs are usually not in that category; certain ppl on my friends list make me work for every point, and those games are competitive and fun to me. Otherwise, it should be about getting through the game as smoothly as possible and I've no problem doing my part in that. If it means chain overloading Snap Freeze or dropping a Biotic Sphere at a choke point, it's all the same as long as we get the Mission Successful screen.
