I don't know how many of you remeber the walking suits of armor in the Circle tower basement , but I do. As far as I know they have never really been explained of mentioned again past that area. I think it's a fair assumption that they were made by mages since they were guarding the circle tower. Now if someone where to figure out how they were made, in thoery a mage could make an army of them as long as he has the armor and weapons to make them. i personally would claim ostagar in ferelden as my fortress, start making them and use ostagar as a staging point for wiping out the darkspawn from the deep roads completely. What do you guys think?

I think they're similar to the statue guards in Harry potter but im assuming it takes powerful magic that either takes a lot of lyrium or blood magic since connor's demon had them in the room next to the dining hall

If red lyrium Templars with bootleg magic can do it. I think a proper mage could with ease.

I always thought they were leftover from the tevinter imperium and not actually made by the circle.

It's my belief that they are tied to the circle tower, perhaps even the basement, and cannot leave. They may be powered by an artifact or even the tower itself.

I would love to have sentinels in my army, damn dirty mutants won't invade my glorious future.

Although if they had gotten them to work as well as you want them to, you'd think they'd have become widespread like golems, wouldn't they?

You think that the templars use the personalities and magic of the mages (everything that makes them have free will and possibly go against their order), and use that to create the Sentinels which have absolutely no free will and rarely use magic that work for them like mindless slaves?

It's related to the Anvil of the Void. Sentinels are the Tevinter version of the dwarven golems and it's what allowed them to conquer most of Thedas before the first Blight. When the Sentinel army was devastated by the Blight Sentinel research was abandoned by the Imperium. By the time the Tevinter's discovered that the tainted Dumat could body hop they began experimenting with the taint instead which would eventually lead to the Joining Ritual. Eventually the process of creating Sentinels was deemed too troublesome and was lost to Tevinter after Andraste's/Shartan's barbarian army sacked Tevinter. Perhaps this is why Wynne offers to take Shale to Minrathous...

No, because this is never stated. We are given practically zero information on the sentinels beside that they are magical and guarding the circle tower lower chambers.

Awesome idea! Forget meatbagy soldiers, give me golems/sentinels (robots?)! If you could be uber mage focused on wiping all breathing entities from the face of Thedas, that would be even more awesome. Too bad it's never going to happen :/

I thought this was going to be about X-Men at first.

They're a throw-away enemy type so they could have reasonable combatants in the circle basement. Nothing more. You'll never see them again unless you venture into another area that should be void of things to smash but isn't.

Yes it was. Play the Witch hunt dlc in DAO. It's powered by spirits from the fade.
