It doesn't make any sense the lore is full of contradictions

That seems to be unique to him, though. As for whether a soul is destroyed in the process I don't know if we have any hints one way or the other. (Though it may be that his process is just fatal, and he bypasses the souls "destroy each other" process that way.)

Well seeing as the body doesnt get up again as an Archdemon, something has happened to both souls.

I agree with that much, but the Old God soul might not be destroyed. Just displaced. I have a feeling that this will come up at some point on down the line.
