She talked to him like she wanted him so badly...ick!

By comparison, the way F!Shep's tone of voice varies between friendly and flirty with Garrus seems much more natural. You can properly speak to him in a friendly way without her sounding like she's trying to jump him, but when you do pick the option that goes for something more than friendly banter, it's actually done pretty well. But honestly, a few of ME2's romances kind of rub me the wrong way, in retrospect. Even Miranda, a character I actually like, bugs me because of the way Shepard speaks. This is why my M!Shep is strictly with Ashley for the entire trilogy.

Every time I talk to him after his loyalty mission, she sounds like she does want to jump him. I do avoid the romance dialogue option...but she continues to talk like that with him....:-(

Yep, you basically read my mind. Romancing aliens is acquired but super rewarding in the end. When I started my first playthrough with a Femshep, I was honestly not going to romance her with an alien because they all look very weird to me, but once I started the game those aliens grew on me tremendously. Romancing Garrus and only Garrus changed from a weird idea to a perfect idea. After that I had a male shepard and Liara exclusive playthrough, and then a male shepard and Tali exclusive playthrough, all three playthroughs ended being perfect largely because I feel I romanced the right alien.

Lol I'll never forget how revolted and confused I was every time I saw Garrus on Tumblr before I knew anything about ME. I was only into DA at the time, but because of Bioware and all, the Garrus obsession naturally leaked into my newsfeed and I just couldn't imagine what it could be that made everyone want to romance someone so utterly creepy looking. I even remember telling myself, "If I get around to playing Mass Effect, I know I'm not romancing that guy".

But yes, on top of the amazing personality/characterization/progression/voice-acting, the alien aspect becomes part of the attraction itself. Something too alien, like a Prothean, doesnt work for most. But for the alien humanoids, the charm comes from everything about them that is super different combined with the things that are familiar and intriguing. That's how someone like me went from "what the hell is that??" to "Hello, I have a mildly debilitating obsession with turians"

You mean Garrus?

No, Jacob. Shepard's quite indifferent with Garrus...

I think the forums are right. This is not biased by my personal perceptions at all.

Make a femShep, and an awesome class like vanguard. And romance Garrus.

YOU WILL REGRET NOTHING.

Mmm...Vanguard, Infiltrator, and Soldier are probably the plainest classes within Mass Effect 3 for me at least.

Vanguard is basically an adept that prefers to kill you within arm's reach.

Yeah, but I like Biotic Explosions or just simply making explosions. Soldier class is capable of all types of explosions by himself besides Biotic Explosions. My favorite class is still Sentinel though.

I tend to spec for melee with my vanguards.

I don't need grenades. I have a fist. I don't need guns. I have fists.

CHARGE.

...I meant, something sane and rational about reaction time testing or...

Basically, I feel like a superhero.

Jacob gives ample warning of not being a good boyfriend though:

'Miranda, she deserves a better man than me'

That's what you women get for trying to change a man :P :P

When Jacob says that Miranda deserves a better man I wouldn't interpret that to something like  "I'm always going to cheat and leave my girlfriends" instead I interpret it like "I'm feeling that she doesn't deserve me because she is better than me. I feel that I'm not enough for her.".

Maybe you men can't say it clear enough what you actually mean. :P :P

A sure sign that things weren't going to go well when he decided to make his opening dialogue in Shepard's cabin packed with more corn than a Del Monte cannery.

I only play as MShep. I would be more inclined for Fshep unfortunately there are no variations in dialogue choices and to truly encompass a Fshep playthrough I would have to be a female in rl. My first time playing I wanted to romance Tali but after romancing ashely (who I find to be a decent romance), I find myself only drawn to human LI only instead of alien. No offense but I can never see myself romancing Liara. The way she came on to me when we first met was distasteful and it was like she wanted to dissect me on a lab table. Major turn off. As much as I love smart women she just creeps the mass effect out of me. I wish Samantha Traynor wasn't restricted to one gender :( also wouldn't it had been interesting if EDI was a LI.

Play as femshep and romance Samantha. She is a good looking character, very intelligent and a voice that you could listen to all day

I can play a dudeShep and hit on the layyyyyydies without getting wires crossed and my head explodin'. Shepard's a character. Who can be a man or a woman! It's kind of like writing a story in first person. Sure, I have ladybits, but it's not a huge stretch for me to write a male character. Y'all aren't that alien.

...I would suggest playing as both because it's fun to muck about with options and do different things in the trilogy. And I would suggest Garrus's romance because it's pretty much the best. Possibly even empirically, since I swear he has more content in 3 than anyone else as a romantic interest, and unlike some blue doctors I could name but won't JK LOOKING AT YOU LIARA, he never forgets you're dating.

That's one of my games: solo in ME1, Kelly only in ME2, Sam in ME3.

I'd love to know what directions they were giving Hale for those lines. In DAO you can see the notes for the actors with the toolset; pity we don't have that capability for ME.

You can't go wrong with a Liara or Garrus romance. But since you want a human love interest: Jack. She got some really great romance content with Shepard in the citadel DLC.

Not sexually biased.

But Liara and Garrus definitely got the best treatment, outside of the Citadel DLC

Can't fault Garrus in Citadel DLC, either.

DAT TANGO.

Jack has a fantastic romance in general, though much better thanks to Citadel.
