Impatience is my biggest problem especially double banshee waves-_-
For instance wave 4 collectors plat, I find myself taking unnecessary risks even burning ops at times just because I want to kill that extra marauder or captain before moving. I don't think I'm as bad with it as I once was...but still

2, 4, 5, 10, 14...especially 10. I'll get focused on that one boss and forget to watch my back. That happens quite a bit and is particularly annoying, especially if I get synched.

(16) being I don't really care in general about soloing.

I'd rather have a partner along with me for a duo rather having to play with myself.

Options 1-6 plus 11 doomed my first plat solo attempt. Because I only planned on doing one plat solo ever I wanted something unique that I liked, so I did asariguard on Goddess instead of TGI/GT on Giant. B.S. and bad objectives happened, but overall, I had far less experience with the game (120 hours played compared to about 950 these days) and wasn't exactly good with soloing in general and so I was really on edge while doing it, which created more mistakes than I'd usually make. It ended with a Goonstomp one second from extraction. On that day, RageMaster TechnoTurian was born.

 

These days 4, 10 and 15 plus 5 are the main causes of failure. I get bored, I get angry, I find long solos tedious, and I will often quit if I reach a point where even if I completed the solo, I would not post it because it's either bad gameplay or too long for me to want to render and upload.

Wave 10 Targets with 3 missiles left, I couldn't kill the 4th Atlas in time..

I don't think a Batatian Sentinel with GPS + CSMG is going to kill an Atlas in a short amount of time.

Who said so? They are one of the toughest factions imo.

They are the easiest if you use a Venom.

I've had 9 Wave 10 target fails. Sometimes with 5 gels left. That's why I stopped soloing platinum...

Targets are almost as bad a troll objective on wave 10 as devices, depending on the map.

Most of us, have - at least - attempted, if not completed, a Platinum solo by now. Throughout our (many) attempts, we have learned and experienced a lot. I believe nobody actually succeeded the first time around - if so, that's pretty darn cool - and we've all had fails. As I'm getting back into soloing after a break, I wondered about the experiences of my fellow BSNers with Platinum solos. I decided to make a little poll, giving you a number of choices. The goals is, to gather information to see what factors you believe are costing you succesful Platinum solos.

 

 

These are you choices. You can definitely pick more options, if you like...

 

(1) Random BS / Troll spawns / Praetorian Lazer non-sense;

 

(2) Your own mistakes due to overconfidence or rage;

 

(3) Refusal to start with overused, OP, cheesy kits;

 

(4) Impatience;

 

(5) Bad Objectives;

 

(6) Refusal to start with an easy map;

 

(7) Disconnections / Origin Fails;

 

(8) Sync-kills;

 

(9) Not playing to your strengths / Trying to mimic another player's style that doesn't suit you;

 

(10) Lack of focus / Not caring as much for a specific solo;

 

(11) Not enough experience or confidence;

 

(12) Tendency to use unorthodox builds / Strange loadouts;

 

(13) Specific enemy / Specific faction;

 

(14) More a teamplayer, so solos are not for me;

 

(15) Solos are a chore, and I'm too lazy to persevere;

I would say 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10 are my core reasons for me failing a plat solo. Like right now the next plat solo I will be attempting is Venom SI against Cerb on Jade. First wave I can do flawlessly then I end up using two gels on wave 2. No used to handling 3 dragoons at once by myself I guess. I still need to work on that. I will say this though, my highest I got on that specific solo was wave 6, when I died at the end (no more gels and op packs), I clocked in at 25 minutes which was pretty damned fast to me. Cause on my one successful plat solo, it took me over an hour. That's a significant time improvement imo.

I've failed about 6 plat solos due to wave 10 targets. I also rage quit a couple because of Geth Pyro bs.

lmao plat solos are a piece of cake.

 

i got 13 plat solos under my belt. Reason why most people fail is mainly due to poor spacing and not being vigilant on all the possible angles where you can get shot

I fail my plat solo's cos I'm a complete scrub who can't make it past wave 8. No matter what character I use or what set-up, something always happens so I don't get past wave 8

2, 4 and 7. Was denied a solo by a disconnect on my second attempt, then failed more due to frustration (and throw in another couple of disconnects for good measure.)

I had to take p!ss once. Luckily the map was Rio. Saved an Atlas as last enemy. Kited it to one side of the map, ran to the other side and went for business.

Yeah, I should have included a "bathroom emergency" option. Happened to me during a gold solo attempt; sadly, I fought the Collectors on Reactor; I left a slow Scion for last and I went to the other side of the map. When I got back, I was confronted with a Mission Failed screen. He must have gotten possessed at some point and the grenades might have killed me. It still amazes me, how this slow SoB Scion managed to take me down after I created a lot of distance.

Because it was Thunderdome, I was something like level 16, I wasn't using any mods and I didn't try to revive myself.

 

(I just wanted to see how long I would survive. My estimate was less than 2 minutes, and I died after 1:46)

4 and 15 . Only tried once . Got to wave 6 and failed to finish hack after kiting around the map without success. Have not felt the desire to try again.

The number 1 reason is easily number 5, it's normally always devices or targets on wave 10. This and this were probably my worst.

 

As for the rest of the list I've been trolled a ridiculous amount of times by almost everything, besides objectives it's never why I fail solos though. I never really do easy maps or use op stuff and most of my builds are unorthodox, so it's never why I fail solos. As for specific enemies and maps it's harder to get through the normal waves but it's always the objectives that get me. It took me 8 or so attempts to do geth jade and that was a combination of bad objectives and the enemy and map combo. The enemy that kills me most is easily the combat drone. As for not playing to my strengths, I suck at going for speed and run out of gels a lot when I try it.

 

2, 4. 7. 8, 10, 11, 14 and 15 either don't apply or I've never had problems with.

 

Number 16: lack of cleanup missiles have cost me when I finish a really hard objective and am not using a high DPS combo.
