Last night was the first time that I played a few silver matches in a row (about 10 in a row). Before then I played maybe 1 in 7 on silver.

I really like the Turian Soldier, but I struggled a lot with him so I switched to Turian Havoc. It was a little easier. I use him with a shotgun, but not quite sure which of the three shotguns I have that I should be using.

I find certain maps and enemies give me lots of trouble. Collectors and Geth on firebase jade and london are a real pain. I can't really handle them.

I do much better with reapers and cerebrus on firebase white, reactor, and ghost.

Anyone have any advice for what load out I should use? If you had to pick what was available to me, what would you use?

Human Adept with Tempest - one of the combinations that helped my transition from silver to gold

TSol with GPR - aim for the head. GPR I is quite weak but should do ok on silver. GPR has a 3x headshot multiplier for mooks, turian has 30% headshot bonus in passives and marksman headshot evo works on mooks, This combination should get rid of mooks relatively fast if you aim for the head.

Human Engineer with Eagle

If you are uncomfortable with partial fitness on human adept and engineer, skip passives.

Human Infiltrator with Mantis - this is actually gold viable with the right mods.

Thanks for these TheNightSlasher. I used the TSol with GPR and had lots of fun with him last night. Struggled a lot on certain bases, though (london and jade mainly). Maybe I will just avoid those bases for now. I will promote him and respec proximity mine into concussive shot.

Gonna try out the other builds too. Have something to do this weekend!

^ As I said, GPR I is not exactly a great gun. With all those headshot bonuses, TSol should make quick work of silver mooks. That build will definitely struggle with bosses as the 3x multiplier of GPR and marksman HS bonus dont apply to them.

As for PM vs. concussive shot, it's just personal preference. PM gives nice debuff but has a longer CD which keeps you out of MM. I choose CS for it's short CD and it's a nice panic button for enemies up close.

Thanks again for the info. Btw, do you happen to ever play on twitch? Saw your video archive and am wondering if you ever stream.

I'm not the best to answer, but like Night Slasher I really learned how to play using the Vanilla Human Adept w/ Tempest ... that was my go to kit for a long time as I learned the game.

You've got some decent stuff unlocked; in addition to the GPR/TSol that Night Slasher mentioned, your Phaeston is at level V and works pretty well on the TSol. I see that you don't have many weapons mods unlocked yet, but you can put the Assault Rifle Stability mod V and Assault Rifle Mag Mod V on the Phaeston - pair it with any level of Armor Piercing ammo and the TSol can do some serious damage on Silver with his maxed passives.

If you want to use a shotgun w/ the Havoc, Katana X is perfectly fine for silver - especially if you will be Havoc Striking a lot. You can stick the Blade Attachment V on it and follow your Havoc Strike w/ a heavy melee and it will do a lot of damage. Same thing for your Scimtar, though it's only at level III - it's not a bad close range weapon though. Your Eviscerator is at VII, and is a great Silver weapon - lightweight, decent damage and range.

If you're really having trouble staying on your feet, you can try a Havoc build sans Havoc Strike. Max fitness and stim packs for extra 'tankiness' and pop a stim pack at the first sign of trouble while playing the Havoc soldier at range. You've got both 'Warfighter Package' and 'Shock Trooper Package' at level I, which will give you an additional stim pack along with some moderate assault rifle or shotgun damage.

I hope some of this helpful - there are some really good/smart folks here so be sure to search for their advice :) . Have fun!

I did stream 2-3 times in the past. Never considered doing that regularly. Also, I alternate quite a bit between solos and pug and I am sure no one wants to watch a stream of solos :P. I just upload some solo videos and stuff.

I'd probably play Kroguard w/ Eviscerator with those options, charge spamming ftw

Unequipped for silver (though even AP/Drill ammo 1 will increase the performance drastically.

The soldier class is a little weaker until you unlock higher tier weapons.  GPR is a good fit for the Turian Soldier, especially with extra headshot damage and rate of fire.

Alternatively, here is a classic: Human Soldier w/ Mattock.  Would work a little better if you had the AR Extended Barrel unlocked.  You want to put some AP or Drill ammo on it when you get some.

Also you have one of my favorite classes unlocked, the Turian Sentinel.  I put the GPR on him, although you could run the Mattock instead if you want.  AP, Drill or Incendiary Ammo.  This is not the exact build that I run, but probably makes the most sense for you right now.

Gun class with mattock (if you're on pc, a click macro relieves the constantly button pressing) or phaeston (fine on silver) but best if you go with a power class like the human engineer. Krogan vanguard also works, just spec for fortification and area charge. Read all about when an enemy sync kills and ways to handle it (slopes are popular).

The main problem you have is you have no piercing mods. Silver is when armor damage penalty starts having an effect. Nowhere near gold levels but piercing will help your gun classes immensely.

That's why he should play Turian Sentinel, since he has Warp. :)

a good class to try is the turian sentinel.

 http://kalence.drupa...525!..91!5FD95G

this is the build i used when i was just starting silver. sniper for long range and tempest for close. overload for stagger/ and shield/barrier take down. warp for armour de-buff

london- big map that can give enemies multiple angles to attack you. london is shaped a bit like a cross so try to avoid the centre. make frequent uses of the obstacles to break line of sight

jade- the thing to remember about this map is that enemies can attack you from across the map. again try to break the line of sight frequently.

collector- collectors have some mean long range ability so try to break line of sight often. overload the trooper level units for easy shots. de-buff  the bosses armour with warp because you don't have any armour piercing mods. bosses should not be attacked alone. wait or run away from bosses until you can attacked them with your team

geth- pyro and hunters make no noise when attacking so always check you back. bombers can be tricky to hit so make sure attack them when they are stationary. primes should be left alone until you can focus fire  with your team. remember to de-buff with warp

Seconding the Turian Soldier with an Eagle. Rapid fire pistol is pretty awesome.

what capn233 said. alot of what holds back new players is lack of mods/consumables for armor mitigation

since warp weakens armor it helps whatever gun you're using.

The GPR is a great gun easily Plat viable but at that level (1) the Phaeston is a better choice.

The Tsol is good with any high RoF weapon, Tempest, Locuts, Phaeston, Eagle, GPR, simply because MM can make them fire even faster.

Do not spec out of proxy mine on the TSol. It gives a nice AoE stagger and a debuff for the team.

I use the following build (6/5/5/6/4):

http://kalence.drupa...515!!..21!F7BA5

Use concshot and proxy to stagger and set up headshots, use MM against bosses (but use proxy before it for debuff!!!).

You are missing piercing options, you have no piercing mod or AP/drill ammo. Buy veteran packs and some more JEPs.

Wow, thanks guys. I'll have to look at all of these builds. Lots of stuff to try out.

Been levelling up a human adept. Been having lots of fun, mowing troopers down with the smg once they have been lifted in the air is really fun.

Going to have to try the Turian Sentinel too.

edit: rosemyrtle, thanks for the tips about london and jade. I'll have to do a better of job of breaking line of sight.

RTK2Lioanal, yeah I am low on equipment. I've been buying up tons of vet packs but I use up the equipment real fast. I don't have much of a reserve. I'll try out a couple of jumbo packs.

Try throwing a WARP at guys who are lifted instead of shooting them. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks, I haven't been too good at figuring out these biotic explosions. Some times I trigger them and sometimes I don't. I'll check it out.

Some of the basic biotic combos available to you:

Singularity > warp

Singularity > shockwave

Stasis > warp

Warp> throw

Singularity and warp primes anything, whereas stasis works only on health/shields/barriers.

some of the basic tech combos:

incinerate > overload (fire explosion)

incinerate > energy drain (fire explosion but only on shileds or synthetics)

frozen enemy > incinerate/ overload (cyro explosion)

incinerate/incendiary ammo > concshot/proxy/havoc strike/ throw (basically anything that does direct damage) fire explosion

There is lot more to it, is just some of the basics.

If you want some help in Silver, feel free to add me. My nick is the same I use in-game.

As for class...seeing how you've got only the basic weapons, I'd go Novaguard. It's a risky proposition, but if you manage to master it, it's devastating. Most Novaguards I've found in Silver matches end up the first in the scoreboard (not that I've found many....we are only a few brave ppl, lol).

Once you get good at doing them on demand whenever you want, you'll fall in love with them. Biotic detonations was one of the biggest reasons I love this game, and still is.

There's a few good ones here:

Asari Vanguard with Scimitar & Shock Trooper Gear

Yeah you could use the Eviscerator but I prefer faster shot weapons. The Scimitar works well in Silver until you get the Piranha  ;)

This is a great kit V Cerberus.

Turian Sentinel with either the Incisor or the Viper

If you're getting stomped by Geth, it can be better to fight them from distance with a Sniper build. Turians make some of the best Snipers due to stability bonuses in the weapon passive tree.  The Incisor is the best choice, but the Viper also works well in Silver. Practice getting head shots.

Human Engineer (with anything really)

This is just a really strong kit. Spec Overload for chain and damage against Shields.  Eagle is a good choice, but the Tempest, Avenger, GPR all work well.

Human Sentinel w/Tempest

Pretty much what some of the other OGs have said. You want to lean on power classes until your weapons get better, but the Tempest is very much gold viable when done properly. A good mix of biotics & weapon fire will help you kill things fast.

Also, your Eviscerator w/most Vanguards is very useful as long as you're comfortable playing in close quarters.
