Thought I would just post this incase some people are still "waiting" for the email from gamestop for their DA:I CE (I live in the United Kingdom).

 

I placed an order 25 September got my confirmation email that I had made the order however release date came and went and no shipping email. So Yesterday I sent an email to their customer support (link was in order confirmation email I received) and was surprised when I had got an email this morning. I asked them to cancel as it seemed nothing was going to be sent, however the reply I got felt very odd in the sense that it feels like they are blaming me for not getting my order.

Now problem I see with this reply is this:

Important: Please note that for pre-orders purchased via MasterCard, VISA or PayPal we now take payment at time of shipping so please ensure you have funds available in advance of the release of the game.

Which is information in my order conformation. They never took the payment from me so they never sent it yet if I am not mistaken it is down to gamestop to request/take the payment not for me to send it so basiclly I got screwed over on my order with problems completely out of my control how nice of the officer to blame me for it. <snark snark with a large dose of saracasm>

Anyway from the sounds of the problems with the CE I am kind of glad I never got sent it though I would of liked the bonus stuff that came with it Oh well.

Welp this is the first and last time I have and will ever order from gamestop and from the sounds of the game its not really in a good state to play for some people so I will just possibly wait and get the standard edition in a few weeks or months.

Anyway that is my small piece on this meh launch and complete f-up by gamestop hope other people are atleast enjoying the game and having fun or if they are returning their items are able to regain the money they spent on this.

@DragonOfKhaos: Thanks for posting that, it's almost the exact position I'm in except they haven't replied to my e-mails or voicemail from last week. Seriously annoyed by the rubbish customer service from GS, won't be using them again.

 

Still can't get through by phone today so think I shall try sending a cancellation e-mail as you did, maybe that will get their attention. Weird thing is, they have taken money from my account, so good luck to them trying to blame this on me.

 

Update:

 

So I finally got through to Gamestop's helpline. I explained and gave my order number, but was told that whilst they had my order there was a problem with payment.

 

This was however not true.

 

As I explained above, I had previously checked my bank account and seen them take payment on November 17th as they did with other orders. I told them this and after a very quick check they confirmed their error and offered either a full refund or to ship it out immediately. 

 

I chose the refund.

 

I'll still be picking up the game, just not via Gamestop for that amount of money. 

 

P.S: For people in the UK, Forbidden Planet Online are selling playing cards with some of the same art the tarot cards have, in case you miss out on the Inquisitor's edition and still want a cool extra.

It looks like I am one of the lucky ones regarding the IE.  I received mine today (after a long delay due to the weather).  No broken pieces, everything was in tact.  I am only missing one piece of the lock pick set.  Not a deal killer.  I may email Tri-Force and see if they will send out a new lock pick set. (Or check EBay and see if anyone has bought these for the purpose of breaking them up.  Other than that, I am pretty happy. I just wish that the SteelBook case had enough room for all of the discs.  I may ask them about that too.

 

Edit: I did find a small tear in the material on the right side of the case.  I've contacted Tri-Force about that and the missing lock pick piece.

Spot on.

 

If I hadn't kept ringing them (took me many attempts to get through), they would have sat on my order without contacting me for god knows how long.

I am trying to return mine tomorrow, I don't care if i used my game code. I want at least 3/4 refund because they cheated me and never informed me that I am getting a normal edition without 3/4 of the digital content. >.>

I just wish that the SteelBook case had enough room for all of the discs.

The discs will double up in the Steelbook since the recesses are each two-discs deep. Might be a little counter-intuitive but there is enough room for all four if you try it.

Well, I got my copy.... 

 

Lots of stuff got loose on the inside. Two of the chess pieces are broken, three lock pick tips were snapped off, and a whole pick is behind the top lid's red fitting area that I can't get out without tearing the thing out. Should I request a return, exchange or replacement for these specific pieces, or should I just live with it? I'm just bummed out that there's a lot of pieces broken. 

 

I am surprised that the brooch, the other pieces that was loose didn't break.

I just received my Inquisitors Edition and I am sending it right back. Upon opening it 4 of the plastic corners/decorations fell off. When i opened the box everything was scattered around I'm surprised nothing was broken, the leather notebook/pad I at first thought was missing but it was wedged into the bottom of one of the red trays and the playing cards were nowhere to be found!! I called Gamestop right away waited on hold for about 20 minutes before I got someone. She was very nice and they did offer to replace it but at this point I'm so dissapointed by the poor quality that I'm opting for a full refund. Does anyone know if Bioware will sell any of the pieces separately?

So I had my fourth chat with an EA advisor this evening regarding the missing digital content and... SUCCESS! (Angelic hordes come forth!)

 

It definitely seems like EA are reluctant to be the saviour of GameStop UK's bungling, and it really does look like it's down to the whim of the adviser you're speaking to. Persistence has been rewarded though. Obviously feeling happier right now but it's still fairly ridiculous that we're having to jump through these hoops in the first place.

 

Big thanks to everyone in this thread, and particularly Alec Fortescue, for your help.

So I had e-mailed the contact at TriForce that was linked from Twitter in this thread about the missing and damaged portions of my Inquisitors edition.   I provided my receipt and was asked to provide a picture of the damaged and missing pieces.  I provided a picture of my damaged quill along side my incomplete lock pick set.  I received a response today, as follows:

Would it even be possible to get the Tarot Cards into Bioware Store? I'm from Poland and thus I was unable to purchuase Collector's Edition and those cards are the thing I wanted from it the most, and byuing it overpriced on ebay now just for cards is a bit stupid as I already have the game...

Yeah, I eventually realised that after complaining about it myself!  Felt a bit silly after that.  It's one of the nice bits of the CE, though it would've been nicer if they'd actually put the discs in there instead of just sticking a regular edition box on top of it.

 

Well, attempt no. 3 to get through to an advisor today and it's not looking good: "under 5 minutes" has now become 10 minutes and like the other chat sessions, I don't expect it'll be answered before I'm called away.  I'm sure I went through all this same malarky with the DA2 Signature Edition too, where I only got the basic content and had to argue with EA before they'd give me what I paid for.  But the paying customers are still the potential pirates, eh? :facepalm:

 

 

Edit: as predicted, no answer.  Again.  Anybody know any other means of getting through to EA support?  I hate IM as it is and this is three times I've tried Live Chat and three times nobody's answered, and I'm not encouraged judging by others' comments since there only seems to be a 50% success rate of people getting what they paid for, at least on the first attempt.  I've also tried asking GS, and legally it is their business to sort it out, which I'm trying to gently remind them of.

 

Edit 2: okay, now not so gently.  I've tried very hard to make the point that I paid Gamestop something that Gamestop didn't provide, and if they need to get it from EA, then that's what they need to do.  What they need not to do is to tell me that's too bad and it's my problem to sort out.  Last chance, hopefully they'll get the message; I can't really be bothered to write a long-winded moan to Trading Standards, but maybe if more people did that, there'd be fewer problems like this.

It's not the full Tarot card set but Dark Horse Comics will be selling the Minor Arcana cards as a set of Playing Cards from December 17th.

If I remember correctly, the jokers weren't included in the IE Tarot Set so may be exclusive to this set.

Well... I have a spare delux edition code from gamestop but they couldn't even guarantee that it's for Origin (pc) xD How did they manage to screw up this big with this edition?

So, another day passes and another day when I still don't have what I paid for.  And another day where EA demonstrate that they're a bunch of bloody thieves.  I guess it's easy to not care when they don't have a reputation worth ruining.  Sigh.

As far as I know, EA is not responsible for the chaos with codes in the UK. So saying that EA are "a bunch of bloody thieves" seems a bit out of proportion to me.

 

On another note: I still have not received any answer from GameStop UK since I sent them a request on Saturday. In the meantime, I tried to acquire the code via GameStop Austria (which is my home country). They basically seemed to be ready to give the codes to me, but I was told that they had no more codes left.

 

At least TriForce has replied and also asked me for pictures of the broken pieces.

 

Has anyone who has contacted GameStop UK on the matter of missing codes received a helpful answer yet?

My comment was based on the fact that it's not the first time this has happened, and it's getting annoying.  I don't know how culpable GS are (though in EU law it is their responsibility) but at least part of the problem is that the codes should have been provided in the game boxes by EA.  As far as I'm concerned, I've paid for something that I haven't received, and neither GS nor EA seems to be in a hurry to resolve that problem.  It's one of those things where the missing content is hardly worth bothering with, but I do strongly object to paying for stuff I don't receive.

They're considering putting them into the BioWare Store (I remember some tweet about this. Probably from Mike Laidlaw, but I'm not sure)

I'll be a bit irked if they do that as it's one of the very few perks of having the CE.  If they end up in the store it'll be quite galling to see that I could've just ordered the base game and cards for a third of the price I paid for the CE. :/
