I want to know, what one power. and only one, would you use, without using weapons, for doing a playthrough from start to finish? At the moment I plan on playing on hardcore.

Is there even a doubt? :D

Only one?

Probably Warp.

I would say Concussive Shot, but you need amplification with Incendiary Ammo to really exploit it. So if you allow yourself Incendiary Ammo (which is a power), then you should be more than fine. If you restrict yourself to only using Concussive Shot and no other powers, including ammo powers, then you would need James with you.

Otherwise, I would go with Gladiador2's suggestion of Charge.

The only other option would be Throw I think (Sentinel or Adept) and detonate.

Pretty much all the time. Surrounded by husks? Tech armor. Rachni swarmers jumping at you? Tech armor!

Since concussive shot is for a soldier, would using grenades be considered a power? I don't believe they are.

Dark Channel would be my suggestion. It can take care of all opponents. The problem is, it can only hit one at a time. But if you have patience and remain in cover, it can work.

But singularity, throw and flare are also cool. As well as concussive shot.

But really, are you nuts, man? Play on such high level?

And yes, I think grenades are a form of power in ME3. As well as specialized ammo in me2 and me3. The game mechanics became a little strange.  Some people can use certain types of ammo, while others don´t? And to make matters worse, while developing the "talent" for that particular ammo, you suddenly can make everyone compatible.

By the way, will you still manually try to user powers with the squad-mates? Are you going to just restrict shepard?

Cause if you still can use powers from other characters, dark channels can annihilate just about everything with biotic explosions. Just remember to have liara, kaidan or javik around you. Even some tough battles can last just a few seconds if you use biotic combos. Dark channel and singularity are both excellent. .

You know how many playthroughs I've done. I'm trying to do a playthrough I haven't done before and this is one I haven't done. Playing on hardcore isn't bad. I did a playthrough using a level one pistol, using no powers and that was done on hardcore. At the moment that is the hardest playthough I've done.

I'm currently undecided if squadmates will be able to use all their powers.

"Wow. Shepard, the only way your team could have made better use of their unique talents is if you had gone into battle with your eyes crossed."

It´s really sad you did not document all these replays. Seeing the one with the level 1 pistol would be quite interesting.

Have you tried a me2 with only snipper rifles? This must be close to impossible, since snipper ammo is quite limited.

Cloak, ARush, Sabotage, or Tech Armor in conjunction with heavy melee.

Something that could carry through all the way from ME1 to ME3 would be Adrenaline Rush (Overkill or maybe Immunity (kinda like hardened AR in ME2) in ME1).

No I haven't tried using only a sniper rifle in ME2. I did use only a pistol until I got to the human reaper where I used an assault rifle.

This is only for ME3. I will most likely do a new game plus with a level 60 Shepard. I have all classes at level 60.

OP have you restricted yourself to one power on insanity. If so what class? Im curious as I might run my soldier again on insanity only using a pistol an AR

I once did a me1 play with only snipper, but when I tried in on 2 I had to give up. Limited ammo made the game a nightmare for snippers (and a little unforgiving for shot-gunners). Too bad there was never a dlc pack with classic weapons. I would gladly trade damage for the ability of infinite ammo, even if I needed to wait for a cool-down.

Not on insanity I haven't. As stated, I'm looking to do this on hardcore(ME3). I might do soldier with concussive shot if grenades are not a power, then I might do that.

I found doing stuff like this in ME2 is hard even on normal it was frustrating at times.

It depends on what you personally consider a "power". Technically, anything that is not your passive or Fitness talent can be considered a power.

However, depending on your view, you can stretch it a bit to say that only talents that invoke a cooldown can be considered powers,  which means you could use ammo powers an grenades.

Shotgunners never had much of problem with ammo. Being forced to get into close quarters made sure you were near ammo when enemies dropped it.

And there was one guy who took a soldier and used only a sniper rifle in ME2 here. He used a few tricks to get ammo back, like saving after a fight and then reloading to get all the ammo back. Viper was more forgiving with ammo than the Mantis and Widow. Incisor was terrible on ammo.

Thanks! Very interesting link, RC. However, I do consider the reload trick to be a cheat of some sort. If I´m going to do this I might as well use console command to give me 999 spare ammo.

SR's only early game is painful with the Mantis in ME2.  The Mantis really is screwed on spare ammo.  Infiltrator is punished a little more than Soldier in this regard since Soldier has more guns available.
