What one power would you use?

I decided that I will play as an adept using reave as my one power. With the comment by RedCaesar97, I will also use cluster grenade since it has no cooldown.
So I will max reave, max biotic mastery, max fitness and max cluster grenade. I will not use my weapon and will play on hardcore.
For the squadmates, I will max only one of their powers. With Liara I will max her warp, for James will be carnage and grenades, for edi will be overload, for Javik will be dark channel and for Ashley, it will be concussive shot and grenades. At the moment I don't know if Garrus and Tali are alive since this is a new game plus with a character I haven't played in over a year.
I will start this playthrough tomorrow, so if anyone wants to follow, I will post my progress in the thread titled 'What have you done in the ME trilogy today'.

Actually, this kit sounds prettty much like the Drell Adept in MP, minus the squishiness. ![]()

so many good powers.
1. Combat Drone - distract and destroy
2. Singularity - crowd control, damage, esplode
3. Dark Channel - powerful damage enhancer, jumps to next enemy within its active period

I used Singularity in a Solo Gold Match Reapers only an made it to wave 9 without any kits. If you change your mind I recommend Singularity. This is the power that made me fall in love with the adept class more than the soldier.

I already started my playthrough and will be visiting Palaven's moon either tonight or tomorrow. But thanks for the suggestion

Reave was definitely a good choice. It was actually the one I was going to recommend. You really can't beat the trio of primer, detonator, and damage protection. I know you started already but I would go with area reave if you haven't already.

I did choose area reave. It makes a big difference especially when there is a group of enemies together. I'm also wearing dragon armor which gives me a boost in power damage

Don't you have the Cerberus Spirit Armor from the Armax combat simulator in the Citadel DLC? I'm pretty sure it would be a lot better choice over the Blood Dragon. It gives the same 30% Power Damage that the BD Armor gives but in addition it gives 30% Recharge Speed, 10% Shields, & 10% Shield Regen.

I do.
I only went with blood dragon armor because it looks good. I will most likely switch to Cerberus armor. Thanks for the suggestion

Getting near the end of my ME2 game, and I'm finding that, other than keeping my tech armor always on, I'm using reave the most to deal with the bad guys unless they have shields.

ME2 reave wasn't bad when maxed. I'm glad that its more lethal in ME3. One of the biggest reasons I chose reave is because of its cooldown and it can hit multiple enemies within a certain radius. It makes clearing out groups easier.

Reave will cause damage to shields. It just doesn't get the 2x multiplier that Overload or Energy Drain does.

Haven't decided if I'm going to keep using reave in ME3, or try flare out, or just go back to lash because it's that awesome. But I do understand your reasoning. With only one power you need some crowd control.

Yeah, I remember reading that in the skill description. The multiplier is why I like overload for shields though. Since I re-installed ME2 recently, I have to unlock all the bonus powers again for some reason. This is my first game since doing that and Tali's not loyal this time, so I didn't get energy drain.

ME2 Reave is probably better on a Soldier or Engineer than on the biotics, somewhat ironically.
In ME3 the cooldowns are so short that it is decent on any class, but I would be hesitant to use it on Vanguard (unless I wanted a caster style run).

One advantage of Reave is that its damage will bleed through to health, whereas Overload and Energy Drain only effect shields, no health damage. So if an enemy is far down on shields it might be better to go with Reave.

Flare.
You'll be doing lots of cover hugging though, cause of the long cd.

I'm not sure I fully understand themikefest's original post. Is the idea here to melee everything, or just kill with the one power? Or both?

No meleeing. Just using one power. I have chosen reave and I'm about halfway through my playthrough.

Got it. You allowing squad powers? If so, Reave seems like an excellent choice. But wow, your boredom threshold must be about 6 orders of magnitude higher than mine...

What boredom?
I have the squadmates only use one power as well. It makes for a different playthrough. At the moment I'm trying to decide if I should increase the difficilty to insanity instead of hardcore since my playthrough is going fairly easily.

How about having a me3 play with only james and liara as squad-mates (Garrus and Tali both dead), aside from the cerberus base? Have you tried it already? Or a full trilogy run with garrus and tali along for as much as possible?

I have done a playthrough only using James and Liara. It wasn't bad.
With regards to Garrus and Tali. No I haven't. Why? For one, she is not available till the middle of ME2 and ME3. She is also the least used squadmate in the trilogy for me.

I just finished my playthrough. I would've finished earier if my ps3 didn't crap out on me. But now its fixed.
The playthrough was fairly easy even on hardcore. The only problems I had was fighting the reaper ground forces in the Levaithan dlc before getting the diving mech, fighting the Cat 6 clowns by myself and fighting the clone.
I used Liara the whole game , who only used warp and had a 20% power damage upgrade on her smg. Ashley I used the rest of the game once she was available and she used concussive shot.
The only power I used was reave. Very effective. And with an extra 95% power damage, it really took care of the enemies easily. To get the extra 95% power damage, I had 25% from getting intel when scanning planets, 20% mod for the smg, though I never used the weapon and 50% from 5 pieces of armor.
