It's more tedious because it requires people to pop the lid off of the jar. Whatever level of skill you approach gold with, raise it up when approaching platinum. You aren't limited by any means in platinum. Playing "balls to the walls " is still very possible on platinum and I doubt being more mindful and cautious of your surroundings limits the fun either. The platinum people I play with play balls to the wall all the time. We kick ass and have fun with any kit/build.

Anything can be made to work on platinum.
But some people like to have plat games that are not 40-60 minutes long.

Depends on the headknowledge and tenacity of those you play with. My plat games with friends average 22-25 mins with average gimp

Try a Tech armor detonating character plat pug with hornet+power magnifier. The focus should be on getting tech armor kills. The lobby shouldn't have a friend who is good at the game - that's the biggest crutch. Play with all 3 randoms. Let's see how long that takes on platinum.

 

I had a 21 min pug with that kit just a couple of days back. I can freely do that on gold. Not on platinum because lolbossspam.

 

Is platinum fun with friends? Ya, probably.

But that doesn't change the fact that platinum is poorly designed and is heavily focused on armor DPS and RHA.

 

Edit: I am not saying tech armor detonation is the most effective way or anything. All I am saying is that platinum limits your playstyle.

I just dropped into a platinum random game.  I played the greatest character ever though (GI Javelin) because I am bad at this game.  I should have totally gone for Tech Armor spam.

I probably have bad experiences because I didn't have a Paladin, Justicar or AIU on the team and everyone just did their own thing. I guess the one thing you can't get with pugs is teamwork..

If someone is a Nova Vanguard though, I will be the Justicar.
