Can someone explain to me how flirting and killing women in a video game is misogynist but flirting and killing men in a video game is fine?

It gets worse when you realize there are achievements like "Widow maker" and "Man-eater" which involve a female PC killing males. Imagine how it would be reversed.

Well, I'm no gender studies expert, but here's what I'd say: It's not that flirting with and killing a man in a video game is fine or good, but just that it isn't quite as big a deal as the reverse. Here's an example to illustrate:
Suppose we're discussing the issue of bullying in high schools, and I raise this issue: "You know what? A lot of people are saying some really mean things about the football team, like 'Football is for stupid people,' and 'Football players are meatheads!' How can we let this kind of thing happen to our high school athletes?" Well, such attitudes are bad and to be discouraged for sure, but on the other hand, when it comes to bullying, the issue of people making fun of football players is probably pretty low on the totem pole of concern. This is because in the social world of high school, athletes tend to be the more privileged group, and thus have a lot less to lose from being insulted by others.
It's basically the same idea with why people are more concerned with violence against women in media than violence against men; of course misandry isn't a good thing, but men are the more privileged group, and so stand to lose a lot less from misandrist attitudes than women do from misogynistic attitudes. None of this is to say that you can never deal with the issue of violence against women in games or other media, but if you do, it's at least worth asking why you are doing so, and what attitudes you may be expressing.

The issue is people making the issue bigger then it is. If this woman really wants to complain about misogyny is games, there are far better examples like say Other M, not a run of the mill arcade game that has you kill women in it(where it's even possible you kill guys in it too but I like how that is left out)

It'd be hard to throw out the possibility.Do they have an agenda?
Some might. Not all of a particular group will have the same belief on this.Do conservatives hate the idea of adults playing video games?
Show them how the video game industry isn't a never-ending killing spree - and even those with high volumes of bloodletting can be meaningful or otherwise justified for it. There's always going to be a double standard for video games compared to other mediums due to theHow do we deal with these anti gaming bigots?
You know. For kids.

Why even take politicians that are destroying this country seriously? I swear, they should be a real government and help feed the poor instead of blaming games for crimes.

Anyway the solution to the problem is simple.
Sit them down, let them play Planescape: Torment and various other beastly legends (The Walking Dead; To the Moon; Legacy of Kain; The Witcher 2 etc...) If they don't come back with their dicks up their asses then their stupidity will be evident and we shall forgive them as the superior being should.

Politicians will always try to blame something else to cover their own problems. If it's not games, it's black crime, if it's not black crime it's gay people. I think they roll a 2D6 dice and just choose from a number of options. Or close their eyes and point their fingers for their 'blame it on them' yearly session.

After all normal people don't suddenly turn violent after holding a gun or whatever.
Well... actually...

The presence and handling of firearms affects human psychology. I don't want to jump to the conclusion that a universal gun ban would inhibit violence or any other type of conclusion, but there is evidence that indicates guns themselves do cause people to change their thinking.
That being said, I'm not sure if there have been any studies that show the same sort of causality or shift in behavior with video games that include guns or other forms of violence in them.

Both watching Violence and Sex scenes provoke the watcher and encourage them to do the same thing or something similar. At Teenage years their influence are at most.

It's great I watched Scream at the age of five. Then my career as a serial killer would have never got to where it is today. Already 82 people and I still haven't been caught!

But it's about basic self control when dealing with guns, something a disturbingly large amount of the human population doesn't seem to have.

<shrug> My mindset? You assume the absolute worse out of humanity when you make and enforce the rules. From intelligence to accountability to basic morality.
As George Carlin said... think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that. When designing a system for the masses, you can't even take the average as a place to start - you have to design something that the bottom 10% of stupidest, most irresponsible and idiotic can work in easily without killing themselves or others. THAT'S the challenge of government. If everyone behaved like a halfway sane person, we could all live in a lawless society. The sad fact is that there will always be the few that, for a myriad of reasons, endanger the lives and well being of others. So laws must be built to correct for them, even if it means perfectly capable people are bristled by the bureaucracy of them.

The gaming community is getting stronger each day. With video games getting more and more attention from media, of course it will attract mis-guided people looking for a reason why bad things happen. The real answer? PEOPLE are the problem. Crazy people will do crazy things no matter what. Video games are relatively young. They are going to get flack the same way music, and tv, and movies did in their early days. We just wait it out.
