OK so I know that this is really far ahead to be thinking about this but what if for Dragon AGe Inquisition instead of releasing small DLC like Wardens Keep or MOTA they released some big expansions like Awakening. You would import your game but rather then play as the Inquisitor each expansion you play as a new character either before, during, or after the main campaign. That way you could see your decisions from another point of view. Also in these maybe we could play as Hawke or The Warden (Commander). If we played them then it would give us a chance (especially for The Warden) to personally update them into the way Dragon AGe is now being experienced setting them up for maybe a bigger appearance in DA4. For example with The Warden we had way different graphics and we also didn't have the dialogue wheel so they couldn't use a pre set personality from the previous game (If you played a DIplomatic Hawke he would have the same personality if he appeared in DAI or DA4) this would give us an opportunity to set one. But for Hawke we could reset his personality after all after the events of this war could change his views and personality and he must be doing something for sure. I no it would be hard to do and I'm probably not explaining right and I am sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling but I think if done right it could be really cool. I hope I made sense and would love feedback.

It's a good idea I think, but wouldn't this been more apropos in the Feedback & Suggestions thread?

I definitely prefer larger expansions to small ones, though I'm also quick to point out that the two aren't mutually exclusive.
I would prefer any expansion content to add-on to the already existing world, instead of be contained in its own though, similar to Skyrim's expansions, and less so to Dragon Age: Origins.
All that said, there's a lot of reasons why expansion content with long production times aren't particularly desirable from a marketing perspective, especially in single player games. Few enough people play these massive RPGs through on their own, fewer still would be willing to grab a new content pack six months to a year after release.
I've always been curious as to what numbers Skyrim managed to pull with its last Expansion Dragonborn. It was easily the best piece of content Bethesda has ever released in terms of overall quality, but I'd be surprised if it pulled even 25% of its install base, though even 10% would still be around one million sales.

But dlc doesn't add to the story. It creates a new story that may or may not fit with the game's. Then adds that to the game. Warden's keep was short enough to feel like another side quest but things like mota and legacy feel to big and completely out of place in hawkes story(at least in the 3 acts). I mean, neither legacy or mota really connected to hawkes story, especially since each act has its own story, which these dlcs interfere with. I feel like just about all dlc should go the awakening/goa/wh route and have it separate, so that it can have a good story and not feel out of place. Skyrim is about the only exception for me and that's really because of how crappy its story telling is. Plus it already has several large stories(guilds plus main story) so another storyline fits in.
As for the size of them.... I guess it doesn't really matter to me as long as they are not super over priced.
Also, I am interested in playing another character. It doesn't really matter to much to me if its the warden or hawke. But playing as someone else and maybe seeing some of the effects of the inquisition in another part of the world or whatever, would be really interesting.

Didn't they say because of how the new engine is and how interlaced everything is behind the scenes that it makes DLC rather difficult to actually make? Which is also why they can't allow for modding because that engine?
Though in terms of DLC, I am perfectly fine with just small things like extra costumes or even things to customize looks wise. As long as it's reasonable like a dollar or two. I'm not that big of a fan of the idea of important story things or DLC characters being locked behind money content. I like everything to be there. A whole new story with ties to DAI is okay though, like how Awakening was pretty much an expansion rather then just a small slice of a DLC story plot and had plenty of content to justify itself as something completely different yet the same. Then it was possible to just take a new character or the Warden and pop them in there allowing a continuation if you wanted to.
I was really not a fan of how expensive the DLC was for the DAII story things, not justifying their cost at all and didn't add anything. Awakening was a good one but it was less DLC and more an expansion which I do hope they do for DAI. I was not a fan of the one with Tallis in DAII because stated a line back.
Pretty much small superficial things like looks of items/costumes? Okay. Small DLC stories that are barely an hour long? Not for me. Expansion packs with options of sending information from one game to the next over? Super okay with.

The game isn't even out yet. Maybe the game sucks, maybe you won't even want more. Tackle this stuff when it is actually relevant, not before you even know what the game is like.
By Odin's Beard have a little patience!

It's hard to predict what type of DLC the game will use, off the top of my head I can say I don't want to see another Omega. They were pretty much advertising the DLC in the game with the Aria quest line, and it was not worth the money paid for it IMO.
I really do hope though that they bring back down the price of DLC, not the Mass Effect 3 prices, I was thinking of buying the trilogy for PC until I realized that it would cost more money for the Mass Effect 3 DLC packs than it costs for the entire trilogy. That bundle should have come with all the DLC from all 3 games, but that's off topic.
I would like to see a larger expansion pack type DLC, 20+ hours, so worth a 20 or so dollar price tag.
And of course we will be getting weapon and armor packs, I just hope they're no more than 2 dollars.

To my knowledge will be able to continue playing and questing after the main story arc has finished, allowing us to continue exploring and solving side quests, akin to Skyrim. If we do receive DLC campaigns, I hope they will be like Awakening, opening up new areas for us to explore, people to meet and as always increase the power of the Inquisition. Hopefully we will be able to go to new places like Nevarra or see more of the Free Marches.

I think the DLC will be like ME3's.

There's no rule that says the two have to be mutually exclusive, Origin's world wasn't built for a more persistent level of exploration (Post-Victory Gameplay), where Inquisition is confirmed to have post-campaign play.
Plus, with all the markers of persistent impact within the world of Dragon Age: Inquisition, I can't imagine the post-release content being confined to its own dimension like Witch Hunt or Awakening. My idea of what Inquisition post-launch content will involve is a lot of military campaigning with the Inquisition forces you have built up, perhaps even marching into the southern uncharted regions or the Sea of Ash, though I'm sure most people would prefer Nevarra-Free Marches-Tevinter.

I would like a awakening dlc but it might be military based. maybe a dlc going back to the free marches and getting sabastian starkhaven army as war assets.
