Use of blood magic(by our main character) had some level of effect on the story of Dragon Age Origins. It had absolutely no effect in Dragon Age 2, which was a bit disappointing. So, is there going to be any effect of Blood Magic on Inquisitors story if he chooses to practice it? If yes, what are the possible effects that it will have?

It was pretty much confirmed during a panel but i think everyone just assumed it wouldnt be in the game because it isnt a mage class.

So there is not going to be a blood mage class?

Apparently not according to the classes listed on the official site, but thats not to say we wont get the ability, similar to the blood abilities in the Warden's Keep DLC. I just find it strange that in the game where mages are being singled out more than ever and in the game they said they want BM to be a threat again, they decide not to make it available to the player? That doesnt make sense and on top of that, its already been confirmed in this panel (http://biowarebase.n...ppropriate.com/). Whether its been cut is the big question for me.

Well considering reason why they didn't gave us blood magic we won't be able use it.If i remember correctly reason were nasty consequences of being blood mage so rather no blood magic for pc.

It might just be me but im having a hard time understanding that last part. Im assuming you're saying that because this time around the devs stated that there are major consequences for being a blood mage, that this means we wont be getting the ability. Where was this said and why would that be the reason for the player to not gain the ability, if anything that would be the reason to allow players to be Blood mages

Well i said that devs didn't allow player to be blood mage because of negative consequences that being blood mage involve and they can't involve them for pc and that blood mage was class for "evil" character but still allow player to have "evil" class and replace it with necromancer.I don't have link but it was in an interview.

http://www.ausgamers...es/read/3432915 found it. I see now, im just confused as to why they'd replace it due to its evil nature with something thats arguably worse.

Necromancy sounds like Skyrim rip off... ![]()

And how would a blood mage class be more 'evil' than the actions done by the pc ingame? Unless bio is out for some major railroading story vise which means we will not get a rpg but something else.

How? You act as if the concept of necromancy hasnt been around for thousands of years let alone been used in other games, Skyrim had its form of it and DA has theirs. I really get annoyed with these Skyrim comparisons

Well it is less because it is evil as they have said the purpose of necromancer is to replace blood magic as evil class/specialization rather main problems are negative consequences that comes with being blood mage for pc so they replaced it with specialization that won't have those consequences but still is rather nasty and fits for player that want play more evil characters.

Thats the thing, i dont see why necromancy wouldnt have negative consequences constantly dealing with unknown spirits to raise the dead which is already seen as taboo.

Well it doesn't seems only issue with blood magic problem is it have much more than that as they said in that interview. It doesn't have affect user and danger still can be as for normal mage but still can be seen as nasty. For example spirit healer isn't even near hated as blood magic despite both involve spirit/demons and in fact blood magic don't have involve demons it rather increases the risk of possession and have more other negative consequences.
As well most peoples in thedas see blood magic as moral event horizon when necromancy would still be controversial not as much as blood magic.

Thing is if its an issue of morality, i wish they made something off of that, having certain allies threaten to leave you or even soldiers mutiny against you if you become one. Making an issue out of it would've been interesting either trying to convince allies that you have it in control or ignoring any concern they raise, pushing that dictator type persona. I just see it as a missed opportunity to get rid of such a prominent class

As i said morality is minor issue and that only would cost most of your potential allies it also increases very risk of possession and have negative impact on sanity so as well also blood magic would give you such powers like mind control or enter to the fade at will it would take a lot new content they could give you option to become abomnation but they won't.As they said now they can't or don't want add consequences of being blood mage so it is rather better solution than make it meaningless like previously.Perhaps in future games .

Thats just over thinking it, there a plenty of examples of blood mages who didnt suffer issues of sanity, plus those negatives can be glossed over as effects from the glowing hand. Entering the fade is already an entire class i dont see why that would hold them back from implementing it, mind control could easily be an ability. You can add the class an make it come with consequences.

plenty lol few in fact only 4 merril , jowan , malcolm and alain. No you need lyrium to enter fade a lot of it if you are normal mage if you are blood mage you can kill someone and already have access to the fade not mention mind control that would just give you in every conversation ability to control most characters in the game. That would require creating completly new game for blood mage.

There are more though i cant think of them off the top of my head, regardless 4 is more than enough to justify your character being sane and blood magic doesnt work that way. Why'd you say "no"? Theres a class dedicated to opening tears in the veil, thats not something to say no to. You used opening portals as a reason not to include BM but its already in the game
