Citizens of the boards, I wish to address you (mostly the people angry about LI's)

So it's pretty much common knowledge now about who the official love interests are (I won't name them just in case) and I'm seeing A LOT of venom associated with the choices.  I posted the thread that got locked down earlier by Chris that involved said spoilers (sorry about that Chris).  I just want to address the angered parties in a, most likely, highly mockable and wall o text way that disappointment is fine, but don't let it ruin your week.

In reality I think anyone that's disappointed by this should buy and play the game just to give yourselves as much info as possible, so as to make a well constructed and pointed argument or critique aimed at Bioware.  The G&T (I'm gonna assume you know who that refers to) fans got their wish by being vocal and a constant on the original boards, which means it does and can work.

This info just shows that Bioware perhaps needs to think things through a bit more on their future titles. I won't be canceling my preorder because of this and neither should anyone else.  This is most likely going to be a very enjoyable game (according to the reviews) so it's best to just take this on the chin and mark it down.  Keep actively hammering your wants on these boards and elsewhere, because things can be changed, as once again has been shown with G&T.

My femshep is now destined to be single (until ME3, hopefully) and ya it sucks, but in the end, I don't want anyone to become depressed or angry IRL over the LI news as that's just a waste of your time and energy which could be spent enriching yours and others lives, as at the end of the day, this is just a videogame, albeit one that has garnered a lot of emotion in both directions.

I just watched the Haiti relief telethon and I know this is sappy and really not the place to say anything about it, but it grounded me back into reality and now I'm just happy that I get to have the entertainment options that I do.  I feel sort of dirty for caring so much about something that's so trivial when you get right down to it. That's not to say you shouldn't care, as media like this is a part of our culture and has become a staple for expression and stress relief, I just think we should all temper our passion with reality every once in a while...

Wow that felt corny and long winded but oh well, that's how I feel... Mock/Flame away ;)

Agreed, people take lots of things for granted, something I'm guilty of doing as well. Something that puzzles me though is why Priestly would shut down that thread and let the Tali Fans-It's time thread continue with its rampant spoilers running around all over the place.

I've seen only one person say that they were not going to buy the game over this. At this point, what a lot of people want to see is a same sex romance DLC. A reasonable request.

I also am confused about that, maybe Chris is a massive Tali fan, lmao

I'm happy with my LI choice LOL.... and I know that it was a large concern for a lot of fromites.... but I also know that the romance is a teeny weeny part of the overall plot

I"m totally stoked over meeting the new crew and taking the fight to the Collectors/Reapers/Whatever else... :)

We have no idea at this point, it's been hinted at by some people saying that they can flirt, but who knows, I never watched the j.tv vids long enough to find out...

If the G&T people got what they wanted, what are they complaining about? Who?

Oh right, you can't post spoilers. Well I guess I'll see when I get it. In four-five days. While the pirates and luckys enjoy it...

The complains are coming from people who want same sex relationships in the game, whcih casey said were not in it in the Best Buy interview.

I meant the people who didn't get the LI option they wanted, I won't say anymore than that, lol, though you could just check the Garrus love thread for said spoilers, or the Tali it's time thread, or about 10 others that haven't been locked for some reason *feels sad that Revan's thread got locked* :crying:

It is amazing how emotive this issue becomes - more than any other feature in Bioware games, I think the romances speak to people very personally, and to be left out is a strange blow that is not easy to explain. You are right, it will not stop most people from enjoying the game, but I also think we need to keep discussion and dialogue alive.

Normally I'd roll my eyes at hyperbolic rage over the lack of same-sex romances, but I have to sympathize in this case.  In a game where Bioware has apparently put more effort and resources in romance than ever before, they excluded good-ole normal homosexuality in order to cater to tastes even weirder than furries.  Alien furries.

That's really bizarre.

I find it eyebrow raising that the Tali threads and the Garrus threads have not been locked given their highly spoilerific nature, yet Chris locks THREE same-sex discussion threads on the same grounds.

Don't worry, that's raising more than a few eyebrows...

Ya, that's my feelings, they just seem to not know what a good portion of their fans want in reality and tried to "leap over hurdles" (strange alien options)in the good ole fashioned way that Bioware does, yet at the same time tripped over the old hurdles that people loved watching them jump over in the first place.

Gotta say... I agree 100% with your post. I mean.... those "G&T" fans had endless amounts of threads about it and look what happened. Besides, its not THAT big of a part of the game.... I mean, I'm looking forward to a particular romance and a continuation of another, but its such a small part of the game. There is plenty more to enjoy! :D

It's only fair that if the same sex thread gets locked, that all the other romance threads get locked. I'm not even one of the people looking for same sex romances, though I am sympathetic to the cause. If they're gonna put in romance they should make it for everyone. This isn't Fox News.

I don't think they shut down the same sex threads because of sexuality. Probably because of the strong potential to explode into an arguement.

I'm sorry for you all that Samara isn't a love interest.

Her character seems lovely.
