What you like and what is better are not the same thing. The Harrier owns the Lancer in the DPS and accuracy departments. If it wasn't for challenges, I don't think I'd ever use the Lancer. It really.. kinda sucks.

You can fire a lot more with the lancer but the harrier is still better.

 

I still like the sound of the lancer though, and it takes me back to me1 with no thermal clips

The Harrier is better the vast majority of the time but the Lancer can do a very good job with some classes.  I've had some nice success of late using the lancer on my batarians,

I really, really like lancer on a select few kits (FQE, some turians, Justicar, Volus Merc). Gun is  pretty good fun. I like it, though for me no assault rifle comes close to the Valkyre and Argus in terms of enjoyment of use. 

 

Btw, is this some bizarre forum project where you guys are trying to get the front page to be nothing but Harrier threads? No snarkiness or malice in that question, I was just curious.

The  Lancer is lighter and refills itself, so you don't have to endlessly hump ammo boxes and gives better cooldowns

 

(I only have it at II vs Harrier VIII so the wight difference is marginal right now)

The Lancer has a niche use for me and I enjoy it on overload spammers like the HE and GE.  But the Harrier owns it to no end.  Anyone complaining about Harrier ammo just doesn't know how to adjust play style for the gun.

I absolutely LOVE the Lancer on so many power based classes. Harrier is still stronger though, if you don't mind being married to ammo boxes.

I think this is the first of your threads I agree with OP. The harrier is better as far as pure dps is concerned, but the lancer just feels right to me. It's one of my most used assault rifles.

I prefer the Lancer when ammo effects are involved.  Or bugged ammo boxes.

Lancer is better if you spray and pray. That's it.

Harrier is better on any kit if you control your trigger at least a bit.

PPR is better on any weapon platform. Even if you fail to oneclip you still has a deeps comparable to Lancer's singl clip dps.

CSR is a much better mook killer, while has a similar sustained deeps, when HIPFIRED. Also, you shouldn't choose between piercing or barrel, you can haz both. You can has piercing +barrel or piercing+hvb(which has a 25% damage bonus) or thermal scope+either barrel(depends on ammo) or ULM + EB if you want to use AP rounds and wouldn't mine a bit of spare weight.
[edit] OMFG, the darn dun is sooo underrated. I should give it back to my destroyer (secondary), DAI, and may be a TSent NAW!

Did I mention that latter two are pinpoint lazors without recoil?

CSMG is better on castors. It has a similar armor deeps. You can compensate for lack of shield/barrier deeps by reliably HS/tripplehitting banshee/atlas. It's accuracy makes it a better mook killer as well. Should I mention that it recharges the seconds while you cast?

Typhoon is muuuch better on weapon specialists. It's actually better on any kit that doesn't care avbout CDs much.

Sabre and Valk are better on any kit. Loose a bit in single clip deeps, win hands down in sustained. And you don't need to use hard cover to hit things.

I will consider any (but one) other UR AR and any other infinite ammo gun before I choose lancer. And it's no match to harrier. Harrier is good at everything bad at few things, lancer is meh at everything good at nothing. Deal with it.

It's better than spitfire (if you need to cast and walk). I can agree on that.

What's with all the harrier hate on the BF lately. Didn't people used to hate it because it was too good and rendered other Assault rifles (including the lancer) obsolete? I like the Lancer and it's a fun gun to use, but on platinum in particular, it pales in comparison to the Harrier...

the lancer is really good in the right hands. i tried it on a quarian MM and just wrecked things with it

but it just doesn't compare in terms of straight DPS

but if you hate running out of ammo, the lancer is the obvious choice

Ah, the Lancer only sucks compared to the Harrier.  It's a pretty good all-around gun - decent accuracy, manageable recoil and weight, decent power, etc.  It's kind of exactly how I think an AR on this game should work.  Also, it's a lot of fun to use (at least I think so anyway).

It sucks compared to the Harrier, but more importantly.. it is dominated in its niche in every department by the Collector SMG. The Lancer didn't even need introduced bc the CSMG already did the same job and did it better.
