Yeah, I just figured I'd post a weird, vaguely asian-y looking picture of her.  I think, in general, she doesn't really look asian to me.  She's an odd one for sure, but has an interesting look.

 

There is no place in the DA universe where Asian-featured people come from that we know of.

 

Well, to be fair, we've seen a small number of vaguely asian-y (that's twice in one post!) looking NPCs, so it's not out of the question.  There is a whole wide world out there and we only know about a small amount of it at this point.

Aside from introducing an ambiguously asian population of people from another continent, an art style revamped Chasind or the Avvar could be used too.

A part of me thinks that the JE and DA settings take place on the same planet, despite there being some inconsistencies

I've seen this theory thrown about a few times in the past week or so.  I loved JE, but I'm not really seeing any connection between the two settings.  What evidence are people using to base this on?  I'm genuinely interested.

So, an extension of this theory could be that the planet on which Thedas exists could be a part of the mass effect universe?

I'm constitutionally incapable of making a Hawke that isn't based on the 'Asian' preset in the character creator.

Like, I still get weirded out when I look at YouTube videos with the original male and female Hawke family faces.

 The only issue I'd see with that is the Chasind the Ferelden and the Avvar are all really closely related. I think it would be cool to have a version of Christopher Columbus just sail into east Thedas one day and have the whole world freak out about it.

Nah. The only thing holding the flimsy JE DA verse continuity theory together is that they're both in fantasy settings that includes spirits, demons and magic while no name was given to the planet of their respective settings.

Whereas other BW games have clearly defined or charted settings, like Mass Effect as it's only an alternate future reality of our own, or BG with Abeir Toril of the Forgotten Realms verse etc.

But seriously I wish there was a lot more ethnic diversity in Thedas, and I don't feel like there's a need for some explanation like "they are new arrivals from the kingdom of ____ across the sea" but rather people have a variety of looks and that's how life is.
