Contrary to popular belief Liara wasn't always an adept class. In Mass effect 1 she was a tech/biotic = Sentinel.

She had both Electronics and first aid perks (Engineer perks) aswell as powerful biotic powers. Also she didn't have access to basic armors (Unlike The Adept class). She was a textbook sentinel.

Then came lair of the shadow broker and ME3 and suddenly she became a full fledge adept. She went through a lot from ME1 to ME3. I can see how her biotics could've increased in strength. I just think it's regretable that Bioware didn't put more focus into showing us this progression - maybe storyline how she evolved.

Like in ME2 when you first meet Liara again and she threatens to fry people with her mind. Polar opposite to ME1 Liara.

A lot of stuff happened between ME1 and ME2 which we know nothing about.

It changed her fighting class.

it changed her personality.

Could Bioware have done more to explore the storyline of Liara..

Thoughts?

I disagree on Liara. Electronics were her ONLY off class skill. Everyone had First Aid even though it was generally useless (I believe) on anyone that wasnt Shep.

Also Adepts to my knowledge dont have any armor skill either, due to their power stack.

Engineers are pure techs and they have electronics and first aid. electronics gives you OVERLOAD afterall. extremely powerful tech ability.

Here, look at the Sentinels skill
http://masseffect.wi...m/wiki/Sentinel

Biotics + Electronics + first aid, minus basic armor = Liara

Now look at adepts skill set:

http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Adept

Basic armor + barrier + all biotic skills. = Adept = not Liara

There's no disputing the fact that Liara was a Sentinel in mass effect 1.

Kaidan had a wider array of tech abilities, whereas electronics was her single tech-based talent, while having the most biotic powers other than an adept Shepard.

In the squad selection she had a full blue bar which was showing her as the pure biotic i thought. And no purple which was for tech.. So she had a tech power, well in ME1 there was alot more powers in general and she already had every biotic power. I think they had to give her something else and that just made the most sense.

Kaiden was more balancen, yes. But if I made a multiplayer class in ME3 and gave it Overload, Singularity and throw nobody would dispute the fact that it was  sentinel. ;)
Liara's tech tree in ME1 is much closer to that of a Sentinel.

Stop talking about First Aid. I just told you EVERYONE had First Aid. And when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Meaning Shep (All classes), Kaidan, Ash, Garrus, Wrex, Tali, AND Liara.

Liara's ONLY non-Adept skill is Electronics. She is an Adept through and through. You are wrong and you have no leg to stand on to continue this asinine argument.

Kaidan wasn't more balanced. He had fewer biotic powers. Liara is the *only* companion to have the full gamut of biotic powers.

Have you not considered that she was given some tech abilities to give her an even amount of abilities since she would have had very few if she was limited to solely biotics.

Liara is also limited to light armour and a pistol, exactly the same as an adept.

Also, if you read the "First Aid" page on the wikia you will find it is available to Engineers, Sentinels, Turian Agent (Garrus) and Asari Scientist (Liara).

You seem very upset about the fact that our favourite blue asari started her career as a Sentinel :)
First Aid - Adepts don't have first aid

Electronics - Adepts don't have Electronics

Lacking basic armor - Adepts don't lack armor

Biotic powers

You know who fits the bill of all of the above?
Sentinels!

Umm... I dispute it. The only non-Adept power she had was Electronics, and maybe my game was bugged, but she never got Overload from it. Also on the screen where you select your party, it shows that she is a full biotic, which is an adept. She only adds to biotic power of the group. Also, she's an adept... so that's pretty heavy evidence disputing it.

Boy, I'm gonna give you one piece of advice before the internet forces you to get on a transplant lists for a new sphincter. You. Do. Not. Claim. Facts. Are. NOT. Facts.

Considering that I played through the entire trilogy recently, with one of the TWO runs I made through ME1 having Liara as a primary party member on most missions cause Biotics are OP in that game, I think I know much more than you do on the subject. Especially since you started this thread on a shitty note by claiming a proven fact in game is not a fact.

By the way, this proves you wrong with absolutely no doubts whatsoever what her skill set entailed.

Her powers match with Sentinel, not adept.

From the Wiki

The Sentinel is able to combine tech and biotics to manipulate the environment

So what you are saying is, if i create an Adept Shep and give him Electronics as a bonus power, he is no longer an adept...?

Lotsb does a reasonable job of filling out her back story and some character development. That is largely the point of it.
Incidentally it always bugged me having to take a team member skilled in decryption and electronics (if you wanted to open containers etc), limited team selection.

Ohhhhh, I see now. No, wait, she's still an adept. Weird.

Oh yeah, because OP needs a double dose of STFU. Here's the link to First Aid that proves that everyone on the ME1 roster has First Aid, in a DIRECT counter to your claim that yet another fact is actually not a fact.

If you bring tech and biotic powers to the field, you're fielding a Sentinel, yes.

Overload, electronics and first aid + biotics certantly qualifies her as a Sentinel.

Thank you for making my point for me. Quoting your link:
"First Aid is a tech talent available to Engineers, Sentinels, the Turian Agent, and the Asari Scientist, and unlockable for Soldiers, Infiltrators, and the Quarian Machinist."

Notice TECH ability, adepts NOT included because it's a TECH ability. Thank you for making my point lolol.

Liara has two tech abilites + biotics - she's definitely a Sentinel.

Oh that's cute. OP is ignoring my fact backed counters to his crap.

It was already hilarious how everyone not only called him out for being wrong and why, but I dunno what to call this.

Oh yeah. OP is another shining reason why we cant have a dislike button, as much as its needed. I think a rep bombing would put him in his place.

I'll just repost it.

Liara is not classed as either adept or sentinel. She is classed as "Asari Scientist" which is closest to the adept class. Read the aforementioned links in my earlier post.

With Tsunayoshi I now rest my case - Liara definitely started out as a Sentinel.

Thanks bro.
