But we've gone too long with this. This thread is for wondering whether we'll know the LI orientations in advance.

If they do, I don't intend to read them. I'd prefer any romancing to happen naturally rather than crafting a character with a particular LI in mind.

Where's the bisexual characters? They weren't referring to the player's orientation in that discussion, but the actual followers' orientations.

As for why the need for bisexual followers, well because that is an actual orientation for millions of people. So why would Thedas have solely straight or gay people?

No no no, you misunderstand. I asked "why is there a need for romanceable bisexual characters when the bisexual players themselves get double romances than what others get?". Why do you believe other characters can't be bisexual, and if they can be, how do you know that they are? Bioware does not make it a point to maintain the gender ratio among the companions, so why is it the sexuality ratio needs to be maintained, especially in the romance category, when every player has equal number of romance options?

Also, to what you said in your previous post. Romance indulging players are not "screwed" if they didn't like what was given to them. They would only be screwed if they did not have any romance content to begin with. Dissatisfaction does not equal total disregard. If anyone gets screwed, its the players who do not indulge in romance content of the game and would rather see more general character content.

I hope we do find out before hand, because I don't want to get stuck trying to romance another Alistair and finding out that he's the straight option. Is it "realistic"? No, but I'd rather know and not be disappointed. I don't want to be spoiled for the way the romance paths play out, but I do want to know who isn't available to me at all so I don't waste time pining, hahah....

No matter how and when they reveal it there will be angry people.   I feel sorry for the developers. :(

There'd be angry people regardless of the approach used for romances. It was a feature that was surely going to cause angry reactions. There was no way for Bioware to avoid this, and I think they know it as well.

The equal ratio is to account for two things:  1.)  People who claim that it is unrealistic to see mostly bisexual LI's.  By including in a variety of sexualities within their LI's, it allows them address these concerns of "realism" as well as has some variety in the romance stories; 2.) They want to offer choice in the romances.  They could have just had one straight male, one gay male, one straight female, and one lesbian LI, but they want to give options.  Having two bisexual characters allow them to offer choice to everyone and only add in two choices instead of four.  That's where the equal ratio is coming from.  And, to be honest, we don't even know for sure that it's going to be equal.  It could be 1/3/1 (1 straight, 1 bi, and 1 gay LI of one gender; 2 bi LI's of the other) and still meet all of the criteria that we know (variety of sexualities and everyone getting options).

I hope they do reveal the LI before the game comes out! Like with reading the books I like the the choice to make an informed decision!

I do not believe they would add bisexual characters to combat the realism argument, that just sounds silly, and that argument is stupid anyway. They'll do it only because they wanna provide the options.

Also, if Mark was talking about LIs and not just characters in that tweet, then whether people like it or not, it's going to be at least 2 of each orientation.

They've  said that they wanted to provide options for their past three games.  This isn't new.  Also, the last game had 80% of the LIs being bisexual.  Why are you saying that they are "adding in bisexual LI's".  Isn't it the other way around?

I tend to think that it will probably 2/2/2, but I recognize that they don't need to do 2/2/2 for their criteria to hold up.  A lot of people are acting as if 2/2/2 is a done deal, but it's not confirmed.  That's my point with the 1/3/1 thing.  Just to remind people that there are other ways to hit everything that they said they would do.

It would be the other way around if they said they'd be going the playersexual route, which they did in DA 2. I'm just saying that bisexual romances would be the extras that provide more options because you could theoretically have one romance option for each of the player types with 2 homosexual and 2 heterosexual LIs.

The problem is that their intention still seem to offer multiple choices for everyone, and not just one.

Yeah, but that's assuming they were talking about romances in the game, not just characters. As for my 2 hetero and 2 homosexual romances, I'm well aware that is too late for that in Inquisition. I just pointed to it after hearing the constant moaning about romances not being enough or meaningful.

I would like more LI options. My two cents.

I would also like that if you don't hook up with certain characters eventually they find someone. Similar to ME 3. It is silly to have only the protagonist find romance. They don't have to be overly elaborate but some playful companion dialogue about it would be amusing.

We will see when it is game time.

It's possible. Dragon Age 2's LIs were revealed early on.

I personally DO want to learn who the LIs and their orientations because I'm one of those character-planning people. A lot of times my playthroughs are centered around a theme, and who is a potential romance is a strong component of that (most of my characters are NOT forever alone). Plus its all in the fun of planning and gives me something to wrap my head around in anticipation of the game.

The only thing I hope for is that there are at least 6 LIs (like ME2) and that they aren't all human. Other than that, I'm game for whoever is revealed as an option.

I'm not sure if we will learn orientations but I think they will reveal all romances before release, it doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't reveal rest when they already revealed Cullen and Cass. For me I hope they reveal as much as possible, I love to plan my playthroughs before hand and who they romance is big part of it.
