It is worse than ME1, but not what I'd really call bad.

Not as distinctive as in the first game, in any case.

Don't feed the troll, people.

And before anyone throws out a smart-aleck comment: I'm only saying this because this thread has found its way back to the first page.

No same sex scenes to really get the composer's juices flowing (figuratively speaking).

I couldn't disagree with you more, and I am very happy to see little things like the galaxy map music returning. I think ME's music is a fantastic, atmospheric compliment to the game and I greatly enjoyed listening to the new soundtrack.

I would care to disagree, but it's subjective so it's all fair.

Why is the OP so full of unbiased, completely true facts?

Obviously, the ME2 soundtrack is generic and boring, because artakartel said so.

Also, Jack, is shallow, because artakartel has clearly played the game to a 100% completion.

Is Bioware abandoning the classic ME sound to capture the Micheal Bay crowd? Does this also explain the existence of shallow characters like Subject Zero? Part of the master plan of selling out?

Confirmed troll. Even I can tell that SuZe is anything but shallow, and I hate her. :D (Naaaah, it's a love/hate thing! :3)

You're just nuts.  The ME1 tracks were good, but not nearly as dynamic or dramatic.

If you've listened to the character tracks, you wouldn't be saying the ME2 soundtrack was generic, unless you're crazy.

The stuff is wonderful.  There are some that are completely boring, but there were a few boring tracks in ME1.

Mass Effect 2's soundtrack is so generic and boring because the developing team are just flat-out lazy - I don't know what other conclusion can be reached. I'm going to say that Bioware was probably on Cruise Control the entire time they were creating this game. They didn't want to put down the Cheeto's it seems.

Take a peak at how unimproved and lackluster the character creation system is, for another example. Same old crap.

Combed-over synthetic hair implants or super-glue styled Astro-Turf hair textures that look painted on? Check. Hair colors that are basically just generic Microsoft Paint colors? Check. Facial hair that looks like it was rushed at the last minute and designed in MS Paint? Check.

Oh, well - it ultimately all just gets chalked up to shoddy game designers.

Naturally. To me the music in the second game just... the tracks are not quite so distinctive. The good old Galaxy Map is a good example. It stands out from the rest of the more frenetic, or more "urgent" stuff that's in the game.

The Mass Effect theme drove the entire ME1 soundtrack.  They lost some of that in the sequel, but while my opinion might see "distinctive," to describe the ME1 soundtrack, I don't think it was overall as interesting as this new soundtrack.  Some people were crazy about the music from day one, and I was kinda "meh," about it - I couldn't see the Vangelis bladerunner relationship in anything but some of the electronic instrumentation.

Silent Friend:  What about the improved eyes? What about better gameplay? What about better graphics? What about better sound? The more dynamic soundtrack? The fuller soundtrack, with a wider range of expression and thematic material?

Do you even know how to program or write?

If bioware doesn't cave to everyone's demands on a whim, they're indeed just lazy jerks. It must be!

I'm sure your opinion of Bioware's competence drastically outweighs the other few million people who absolutely love their games. Your post was well thought out, presentation was excellent, and I am sure will likely lead to you being praised for the one who showed us the true colors of Bioware's lazy, cheeto-consuming ways.

Regarding the soundtrack now, it's the CONTEXT of the tracks that is important, and seeing some of the pivotal scenes myself, the tracks are TOTALLY fitting for the occasion. I can't wait til 'suicide run' ;)

I think the soundtracks better this time around than the last game. Honestly, I didn't even notice the music 90% of the time (Although I love that sad tune that plays when you find kahoku dead or after the virmire decision).

Maybe.  Not everyone who dislikes the new soundtrack, or likes it less, is trolling.

ME2 music is supposed to match the events going on in game. You have no context for the music. Play the game before you pre-judge character also.

So don't you think that generic soundtracks are for generic works?

Generic soundtrack? The new soundtrack is very well done, easily surpasses the original.

SuZe is a shallow character? Have you played the game yet? Or is that some idiotic conclusion you came up with from a few minutes of trailers/gameplay videos?

It is more generic than the original, and doesn't surpass it in any way. Other than that, it's an above average soundtrack for a game. Even good.

The OP is a blatant troll, but he's not always completely wrong.

Why'd the OP make such a generic and boring thread?

In all honesty, I think the ME2 soundtrack is a bit better than the first. The first had some very good tracks, but most of the tracks were too short to develop fully.

My biggest criticism about the ME2 soundtrack is that the character themes are much much better than the other tracks (besides the new New Worlds track). The non character themed tracks seem to be pretty forgettable, however the character themed tracks are all quite amazing.
