So I'm replaying Witch Hunt with my F!Tabris and O.M.G.

I had forgotten how much I adored Finn and Ariane! Finn especially! He's easily one of my favourite mages.

I know it's possibly unlikely, but I'd LOVE to see them again or hear from them again in Inquisition, along with Sigrun, Velanna, Ogrhen, etc.

Are there any almost forgotten companions/characters you'd love to see return in Inquisition.

I really want Ariane to return as a companion at some point, just because there's so much they can do with her character. I suppose I'd like it if Finn returned as well, since those 2 make a good.... whatever.

I'd like to see Isabela, Merrill, Sigrun, Shale, Anders, Velanna, Aveline, Nathaniel, Carver/Bethany and maybe Fenris (I have mixed feelings with Fenris)

iI really hope they keep returning characters to a minimum tbh. The world is already starting to feel quite small with the knowledge that Morrigan, Leliana, Cullen, Varric and Cassandra (kinda) are returning and will have key roles in the Inquisition (well except Morrigan.)

Adding to them we know that Dagna is returning, and it's almost a guarantee that Flemeth, Sandal and Bodahn are coming back as well.

It feels too much like a reunion for a character that doesn't even know any of these people.

Returning characters are needed for world consistency, since we don't play as the same protagonist throughout the series. However which characters return and why is important, since they have to fit into the context of the game. Personally I am quite content with the returning major characters we already got, but if BioWare feels like they can cram in a few cameos aswell, then that will be fine aswell.

I get this feeling that DAI is going to be the sort of 'reunion' game that does many call backs to the previous one and has many cameos and easter eggs. My guess is that we'll see loads of characters that are obvious to return (which is why Morrigan, Alister, etc are more likely to appear then anything) while some are just going to have very small hints to what happened to them.

On an entirely selfish wish though, I hope we have some Fenris time somewhere. He is very small in the grand theme of things but I really adored his character more then anyone else in DAII. I would enjoy knowing what became of him and if he finally found a home that isn't full of dead bodies everywhere.

I always like seeing the old guys, but I do hope it's not like Dragon Age II when everyone shows from past games all show up in the final act, Alistair, Leliana, Zevran, Nathaniel, all show up in act 3(well drunk Alistair shows up in act 1, but King Alistair is only act 3)

So I'd like to see some of the old guys but throughout the game and in different places.

The one I want to see most of all is Shale, especially since she's a relative to the Dwarf Inquisitor(both are house Cadash, yes a 1000 years apart in birth but still the same bloodline)

I think if too many people start showing up without reason (kind of like Zevran, Sophia Drydan, and arguably even Alistair) like in DA2, it also risks making the world seem too small.

As much as I love my Dalish Warden, I hope to god we never run into her clan ever again, cos after DA2 it would make it seem like there's only 2 or something.

I agree, returning characters are usually more inmersion-breaking than anything else for me, so the fewer the better

It would've been perfect if Sigrun had taken Cole's spot...

I hate when people say "it makes the world feel small". You mean people can't be encountered in their homeland?

Thedas is a very large place. You might encounter Finn if you return to the Circle that he was staying at under normal conditions, but when the same characters who aren't in a static position (such as running into King Alistair in Denerim, or again, Finn at the Circle), running into them multiple times is a bit fanservicey.

I understand Leliana showing up given her position, but what were the odds that Zevran would come by, hmm?

I found all DLC chars bar the Awakening ones boring as hell, but I guess to each their own.

I want to see more of my Origins group.

Loghain's VA did some work for DAI recently so I think he's gonna be back (if he's not dead).

Personally I think we have too many returning characters already. I want some new people.

Will DA: I import from DA2 on PC?  I don't have DA2 on PC (only played it on PS3 before it died on me :'( ), just DA: O on Steam... I wonder if imports will make a big difference in the game (at least around the level of ME3)?  In DA2 it really didn't make a significant difference.  *shrugs*

On topic... I'd like to see Connor again and how he's doing.  I remember listening to cut audio of a cameo he was going to have in DA2.

I've heard that Templeman had done some work for Bioware but I haven't been able to find confirmation that it was for DAI specifically.

That's what the keep is for. You basically pick and choose all the choices you want to import and manually build a save. So you should be able to easily recreate whatever savestate you want.

Oh, that actually sounds pretty awesome.  Good to know.
