Screw Final Fantasy XIII. From what I have heard it's just move forward in a linear path...watch cutscene...fight battle, repeat.

Honestly, I thought that is what Final Fantasy X pretty much was as well. Don't see why so many people loved that crap game.

You asked a "ME2 vs. FFXIII" question on a Mass Effect 2 board...

Mass Effect 2

Final Fatnasy games are great and all, but they hardly do anything to revolutionize the field these days.

Mass Effect 2 even though its a tad light on the RPG side it still utterly destroys any JRPG

Filthy filthy JRPG communist

I think FF is such a popular game that i can see it winning over ME 2 on some places just because its so popular...

As wonderful as I think FF is (see my name..) XIII has stripped out too many time-honoured FF features for me to truly love it. It's a wonderful game, and I'll be buying the English version, but it's not quite the FF I know and love.

Like for example the VGA awards, those are vored in by gamers... are there more Mass Effect fans out there than FF fans?

Eh, I've been playing both JRPG titles and other WRPG titles when I was growing up, and compared to the nice things that FF had back in the day (i.e. the classes in FFV - which I didn't play till the GBA port, sadly), it really has nothing new these days. ME2, on the other hands...

Too early to say.

ME2 seems like it going to turn out to be pretty damn awesome so far and has the potential for a broader fan base.

I have pretty much no interest in FF XIII based what I've seen so far (which hasn't been much), but I would expect it will be very good for those that are really into the series and JRPGs in general.

good question, well FF has been around longer than ME, so they could have more fans out there. although ME has quite a following going considering its only been out for about 3 years.

I find that kind of discriminative...

china, vietnam, or north korea don't make jrpg's, and japan isn't under communist rule

reported, it's ok if you dislike our jrpg's, but I dislike it if you go beyond that.

I played FFXIII the moment it came out here in Japan and I can tell you it's disappointing.

Completely linear, zero exploration, ultra-cliched main story and characters, No towns until chapter 10 (if you can consider what's on chapter 10 a town), slow paced RPG elements unlocking...

Good narrative and great presentation and graphics.

Zero replay value. I don't think I'll pick it up from the shelf again.

+ 1000.

the franchise is going downhill since some time ago. Since X. and X was far inferior to 7 and 8.

as much as i love FF franchise i must recognice that mass effect team have won this war.By far. And i am a HUGE FF fan.

Just hope bioware doesnt let happen the same with this franchise.
