While I know it won't be an option, I chose Elves.

And Gaspard was my choice for who I definitely don't want.

Elves aswell, seeing as i believe they should get some land back. But if the Dales can be fixed and given to the elves as part of an alliance with Celene or something to that effect. Well that is something that i would greatly support.

I went with Celene but it was pretty close. To be honest as long as Gaspard can get his **** together and decide that invading Fereldan might not be the best idea, it's quite possible that I could support him in DA:I, he just seems more self aware than Briala or Celene.

There's actually no one I definitely don't want to rule but I went for (I cant believe I'm saying this) the Elves. While I do think its desperately important to improve the lives of Elves I don't think putting them in complete control of Orlais would be for the best. Most, if not all, Orlesian lords wouldn't stand for it, other nation might see an elven ruled Orlais as a threat and attack and the chantry might lead an Exalted march on them, ultimately resulting in chaos, war and strife. Instead I think its best for the Elves to improve their situation through a human leader (which I think is more likely with Celene than Gaspard) which many people would tolerate.

Of course we don't know the details of Briala's plan yet so, again, if she plans this out well I could certainly support her in DA:I.

Briala seems to be the lesser evil here. I certanly don't think I will help Celene. The novels show she is an backstabber that stomp on everyone that gets in the way. At least Gaspard have some semblance of integrity.

Right now I will stick with Celene. I will wait and see how things unfold.

I think it really will depend on which inquisitor I'll play as. I think evil characters will choose Gaspard, and the elf characters Briala, obviously. Celene for the rest if she's nice to me, hahah

As mentioned above, if Gaspard were somehow changed by the events of TME and had given up on the idea of invading Ferelden I'd vote for him before Celene.  I have more respect for him.

I don't view Gaspard as evil, there's no way you can call him him evil and Celene good, because she's not, she's a selfish and manipulative bface.

Elves won't be an option. They'll either be the tie breaker in the stalemate or another quest. I'm def pro elven homeland but having them rule the biggest empire in thedas is not practical. As it stands, thedas is best served with Orlais being moved away from its imperialist roots into a more egalitarian, scholarly society.

I'm on Team Gaspard, provided he's consistent with his TME incarnation.

I'd just love to put an end to The Game.  And I'll do whatever it takes to protect my beloved Ferelden.

Boy, I find my reaction to the subjection topic surprising. I am totally apathetic to the politics of Orlais. Maybe I will change my mind after I play the game and see the country, but I really don't care at all about Orlesian politics.

I guess if I had to answer, I'd say Loghain. I think he would make a great Orlesian King.

Briala and isn't trying to rule Orlais. She's trying to free the city elves from Orlesian Rule. The elves' plan is different from the other two. Although it is the most destructive, so I'm not really behind her.

mmm.. is there no chance that ongoing invasion would destroy current royal families and as result we can usurp the throne?

because listed above people and elves are not very appealing.

Hmmmm... I found this to be a pretty difficult choice, I ended up voting for Gaspard, but I wouldn't say that I am a massive Gaspard supporter, it really came down to how he was very consistent throughout the book on what he was doing and what his goals were, where as Celene seemed to change her goals, based on Briala. I don't think someone with that much power should be basing choices for the entire empire based on the what their lover believes to be the right.

If Celene was helping the elves for completely selfless reasons, and not based on her love for Briala, then I might have picked her. I chose the elves for who I wanted least, purely because I don't think they are in the running for control of the Empire. If the elves were in the running, I would pick Briala over Celene, not sure if I would pick her over Gaspard.

Of course my opinion might change depending on any info released on the matter, or when I get in game and am actually faced with the choices, but for the moment that is what I think on the matter.

This seems like a question I'd be split on over multiple playthroughs. Both candidates for the throne seem like they can be generally ruthless in pursuit of their goals, but both are tempered by something else. Celene seems to be by sentiment and Gaspard by honor, hence both of them seem morally grey.

Can someone explain why I should pick either Gaspard or Celene? I haven't read ME, and all I've gathered from the wiki is that Celene is probably more pro-elf and Gaspard thinks he would be a better ruler.

I'd choose elves, if I thought for a moment they would be a stable option there. It'd just upset too many people to suddenly have an elven nation like that. Especially the Tevinters. So I think, the slow, gradual progress under Celene would be best for the elves and for Orlais.

Celene. Her vision of Orlais is one I can respect, as opposed to Gaspard's warmongering ways that will ultimately bring more harm than good to Orlais. Her methods may be underhanded and downright cruel, especially in the case of Briala, but I'm far more interested in the ends than the means when there's an entire kingdom at stake. Gaspard may be honorable... but so what? His disregard for the Game resulted in a terrible civil war. And let's not forget, chevaliers murder elves as a part of their initiation! What is that honor really worth? Besides being a more reliable ally for the Inquisitor, his honor means nothing to me.

There was no "kill them all and be damned with the whole screwed up country" option unfortunately.

I chose Celene to rule.  I don't see Gaspard giving up his desire to go to war with Ferelden, especially if both Orlais and Ferelden suffer in DA:I, which looks like it will happen.  And anybody who looks to follow war with more war, isn't someone I want in charge of a country.

The elves on the other hand, the only way they can rule Orlais, is if every single human is either dead or fled the country.  I have no problems with handing them some land and letting them rule over themselves but no human will allow Elves to rule over them.

I voted Celene. Of course whether or not I keep that opinion depends a lot pm what happens in game.

I voted against Briala and the elves. The elves might be oppressed, but an elven minority ruling over a human majority doesn't exactly sound like a good solution. That sounds like apartheid. Also realistically the elves should not be able to seize the throne. Even if by some miracle they did, they certainly wouldn't be able to keep it. And when the human majority overthrows their elf overlords, which is what would soon happen, it would no doubt be followed by wholesale slaughter of the elves. Elven rule would be a disaster for both the elves and the humans.

Celene, because the newly formed Elven nation of the Dales will need friendly neighboors to subsist.

Why should Elves rule all of Orlais ? they can't and shouldn't, they have the Dales.

I am surprised how many people have strong ties to Ferelden. I am not against it, just surprised.

I've said this before, but both Celene and Gaspard can go jump off a cliff.

If there's no other options than those two, i'll just rule myself.
