I've said this before, but both Celene and Gaspard can go jump off a cliff.

If there's no other options than those two, i'll just rule myself.

What if you have to choose between those two?

I am surprised how many people have strong ties to Ferelden. I am not against it, just surprised.

It makes sense. The first game was set in Ferelden and the main plot was heavily tied up with the feudal politics of the country. Three of the origins (Human Noble, Mage, City Elf) were also people were citizens of the country. And then in DA2 you play as a Fereldan expat in Kirkwall.

Who votes for the elves?

They are a minority within the nation and played no role in its conception; Orlais is a human nation and it should be ruled by humans.

I doubt we'll only get those 2 options. I'd definitely be dissapointed if that was the case.

Celene. I worked to hard to get Alistair to marry Anora to keep Ferelden safe. And, I am not going to let Gaspard kill Ferelden and Orlais because of his needs to obtain old glory. Plus, it would be stupid to put a man who wishes to invade Ferelden after a national crisis on the throne. Ferelden has had ten year to build an army, and recover from the Blight. But, in Orlais men are dropping left and right. Do you really want a man who only wishes to be king if he can be the king of the ashes. Until, I hear of a recovery plan I am go to side with Celene.

Loyalist Templar Order or Justinia.

Screw Celene, Gaspard, and Knife-ears.

While no one directly answered my question, from what people have said here, Celene seems like the best option.

While i don't agree 100 % with everything you say, your devotion to the chantry and the divine is kind of.. Admirable.

Can someone explain why I should pick either Gaspard or Celene? I haven't read ME, and all I've gathered from the wiki is that Celene is probably more pro-elf and Gaspard thinks he would be a better ruler.

Those are the two that are fighting the civil war for leadership of Orlais.

I expect there might be a few other options popping up that we might be able to choose from, hopefully not another bastard prince though.

Both are flawed, but Celene is very good at playing The Game, which basically means she's good at being devious and manipulative, I have no respect for that at all, which is where my decision comes from, Gaspard at least lives by a code of honour, even if he can be a bit of a knob.

A third option to just burn the place to the ground would be preferrable, however.

Because the opinion of a bunch of lyrium addicts and religious fanatics know what sanity is...

Well, I know that!

But Celene apparently cares more about the elves and wants peace with Ferelden, right? And I really couldn't give two shits about Gaspard's code of honor. So I guess Celene it is for me, then.

Gaspard's only saving grace is that he wants to end The Game.

But he is a Chevalier, so if I can it is the jail or hangman's noose for him.

It'll depend on my Inquisitor. My elf one is more then likely going to side with Celene, probably fall for her lines of her rather passive change. Her claims of helping out everyone while being twisty and unable to actually answer the question of how she'd help the elves would go right over his head to not knowing to ask those questions like Briala did. He would be easily twisted by the game without knowing how it works.

He'd feel bad for the Briala side certainly, and would want to help them, but wouldn't want to do it in a violent way. Someone would need to tell him what's going on in very simple terms.

For my lady Inquisitor? Gaspar by a country mile. Since he's militant she can relate to that (she's more militant) and his nobility and less playing the game is more her line. She'd see Briala as some dreamy eyed fool and Celene as a soft never changes anything. She'd go in and take the mirrors from Briala and kick Celene off the throne, maybe put Gaspar there if she can control him from behind. Making sure that the Inquisition has full control of the country.

My lady so not a fan of the Game, and want it toppled through military might.

Honestly not interested in supporting either Celene or Gaspard.  I'm going to support Briala if the option is there and try to carve the Dales out of Orlais.  But between Celene and Gaspard, I'd choose Celene.  Gaspard wants to expand the empire by invading the neighbors again...just no.

He certainly does not.

OP: None of the above. Only the faithful guided by the New Chant will inherit Orlais.

I voted for Celene. While her manipulative antics left a bad taste in my mouth, I believe she is the more progressive of the two and has a better chance of making peace with the elves. Gaspard, while certainly honorable, seems a bit too war-hungry for my tastes, and I don't want him taking over Ferelden.

Pft. "Team Gaspard", "Team Briala", "Team Celene".

Team Prothean has a higher body count than all of them combined.

Orlais secured it's fate when it disgraced both the names of Bann Teagan and the rightful Queen Moira.

I hope they enjoy their new name - West Ferelden.

They should share it with others. Ferelden gets Eastern and Southern Orlais, Nevarra get Northern and Central Orlais, and Anderfels gets Western Orlais.

Paul Schroeder thinks that your Partition of Poland Orlais idea is just going to start a bunch of wars over the spoils.
