I'd love to see another trilogy. Bioware's strength in all of its games are its characters, and with a trilogy there is a lot more dialogue with these characters and more opportunities for character development.
Are you hoping for a new trilogy, or a stand alone game?

I'm a little confused by the comments in this topic from memebers that state that they don't like the carryover of previous game saves, that they're tired of or hate trilogies and express a desire for different protagonists in each game. Huh? Why did you like ME1-3 the first place? It's these very mechanics that make the game unique, compelling and EPIC. I beg your pardon, but it seems disingenuine to suggest, in a forum dedicated to the minutiae of the Mass Effect Trilogy, that you don't care for or want, what made the series wildly popular in the first place. First off, you dont have to import past game saves or even play all three games if you choose not to. Secondly, if you didnt 'like' these things in the past games, what was it that you did like enough to become presumably a 'fan' and a member of this forum. Was it the awesome FPS in ME1 or the amazing RPG custom inventory and mission tracking systems in ME3? Pssh...please. And please don't reply with Charcters or Story as these are developed to the levels they were, precisely by carryover in the triology, and the weight and detail of development, only possible through mulitiple story archs across multiple games.
I'm not afraid to say that I want exactly what I liked in the past trilogy: A protagonist that I can guide through an Epic trilogy to save the universe. I'm tired of all the BS about how it doesn't need to be so big, that solving a trade embargo on the Citadel would be enough for you. And that you don't care if you get a new hero for each game. Really? Perhaps you're over thinking this.
My suspicion is that you think your better at this game designing thing than the people who make millions at it. In fact, you're so good, that you want a Mass Effect game that doesn't have a lot of the elements that made mass effect the phenomenon that it is. Well good for you. You're super sofisticated. I just want to play a fun video game.

Trilogy, with the first game having an Origin story similar to Dragon Age, where you choose from the most popular races- Krogan, Turian, Human, Asari, Quarian- and you end up in the same place anyway ( Dragon Age had Grey Wardens, this one will probably have a Mercenary company or some secret Save-the-world group ).

I'd love another trilogy. It allows for a more expensive story, and ultimately allows for deeper characters to be created, in theory.

That is a pretty likely way for them to do it, but i think they will avoid the Save-the-world/galaxy group.
Wherever the new PC ends up we will have to have a lot of agency and a reason for people to follow you. Personally i would like a firefly type ship/crew who are just trying to survive but i'm not sure how good of a plot that would make for a game.

Or bizarre personality changes. Or retconning.
Just saying.

Trilogy. Part of what I liked about Mass Effect was each game feeling connected in a meaningful way. The save imports had a few hiccups but BioWare can see what worked & didn't work so well. Having returning characters who've been there since the start (plus new characters in ME2/3) isn't something I've seen in many other games or at least not to the extent in ME. I think a fresh start in ME Next could be good as well.

If people want the romances to last then do only stand alone games.
