Is the release date bad timing on EA/Bioware's part?

I think it's fine when it comes to those games mentioned in the first post. I'm looking forward to Batman: Arkham Knight also so will just end up playing one sooner and the other later. Plus not everyone buys a game as soon as it's released. Some people might buy it later, wait for Christmas or the year after.

Pointing this out again. The game comes out not even two months from Christmas. The sale price will be maybe $10 reduced.

Besides, the marketing team for Inquisition has been brilliant so far, I don't think they're particularly worried.

You state that DA2 & ME3 were bad like it's a fact. It's not a fact its an opinion. As I said in this thread before a persons experience of a game is almost entirely subjective.

No they are factually bad in the areas I pointed out. Whether you choose to overlook that does not make them magically good.

Whether or not DA2 had a good story is entirely subjective. I personally thought it was far more interesting than the plot of DAO.

The repetitive areas are a weakness, but how much any given player cares about them is going to vary. (In my case: not very much.)

I never mentioned whether story was good or bad. But them taking you out of it while the world went to hell was just badly forced writing. What did Hawke do for those time skips?

No this is not accurate. As you've pointed out DA2 reused environments, this is a fact but how much this bothered you is subjective.

For example, while the reused environments bothered me, it was hugely outweighed by the parts of the game I found to be good. (a list of which I've already provided)

Therefore overall I found DA2 and ME3 to be good despite the negative parts of the game you pointed out.

I'm not ignoring the bad parts simply stating that there was enough good to out weight these bad parts.

This is why, as I've stated, an opinion on a game is entirely subjective.

As I said before I understand that you don't think these games are good, what I am baffled by is your insistence that your opinion on them is fact rather than a subjective experience.

I don't agree. Sure, it's a co-incidence that all the most important events in everyone's lives seem to cluster together - but no more of a co-incidence than, say, EVERY group the Grey Wardens have a treaty with just happening to be in the midst of a crisis only you can solve when you arrive demanding troops.

There's not much Hawke could have done in the time skips to stop the Qunari or Mage/Templar situation escalating, anyway. It's not like you can do much when you are in charge of the character. (I know that annoyed plenty of people, but I found it refreshingly realistic that for once  a single hero couldn't turn the tide of a major event, just maybe redirect it a bit and try to clear up the mess afterwards.)

I like to imagine that Hawke spent the intervening years doing fetch quests. So many people in Kirkwall with lost books and alcohol and corpses ...

See? Relentless. ))

I am far more disturbed by the players who think DA2 was a masterpiece.
Just because you were content with DA2, does not mean that everyone else was. <_< At the very least, they bring up valid complaints while you just push the they're just whining for the sake of whining bs as if that somehow validates your pov.

Anyone who liked the game and had sense have said, "Yes, the game had flaws, but I still enjoyed playing it."I consider them far more credible than someone who tries to shout down the complaints of others who did not enjoy playing the game.

Well, I did say that, more or less. What I didn't say is that everyone admitted thought it was a fine game, as it's (the former, not the latter) clearly not the case. Also, I don't think that most of the complaints were valid ones. Reused locs? Sure. Fast-paced combat? Excuse me, but no.

Doesn't really matter what the release date is. If the game is good people will buy and fans will return.

And there is also a factor that nodoby takes into account.

How much work was invested to have that turnover? How many salaries over how many years?

Because I would rather earn 100k dollars a year, than 500k dollars in 10 years, you know...

The same can be said to Dragon Age 2 versus Dragon Age Origins. Which game do you think was the best business for Bioware/EA?

Those questions, you can especulate whatever you want, only EA and Bioware know the truth

I suppose we might as well do this week's "what is an RPG thread" now.

Who's turn is it to cook the popcorn?

I always find the thought of "too many games" to be a moot point, for I was planning on buying both Dragon Age: Inquisition and Arkham Knight for both games interest me. The problem I was having was going to be finding time to play both at nearly the same time, but now I don't have that problem since Arkham Knight has been delayed to 2015.

Back on topic, Arkham Knight has apparently been pushed back to 2015.

So the only real competition left for Inquisition is maybe Shadow of Mordor.

Well, their timing just got even better! Albeit not through anything EA or BioWare did. (Unless someone over there is psychic or spying on Rocksteady ...)

Have you played Arkham Origin yet as well? It was pretty good imo.

Not as great as City, but it was hard to beat City.

Just Arkham Asylum.  Arkham City has been sitting in my backlog forever.

Personally, I am looking forward to Shadow of Mordor; I don't mind the lore departures that much; and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

October 7th is really going to suck in a totally awesome way: I will have two anticipated titles that I have to decide on which to play first.

Arkham Origins did an awesome job with Bane.

I really love Rocksteady's take on the Batman universe and the games they create; but they really didn't do a good job with Bane (IMO).

I'm glad because now I know I can get it at release without breaking the bank or having to wait a while to finish Inquisition before I start playing it. Plus all this extra time means that they'll probably do the game justice.

I haven't played arkham origins, but asylum was more fun than City even though city is a larger game with more in it imo.

So it seems Inquisitions 'biggest compeition' has been removed till next year.  Though maybe not really their biggest compeition, but I am a little curious to see what the doom sayers will say next in terms of Inquisitions massive impending failure. :P
