As someone who usually plays a female, I have to admit that I've been very disappointed by the various hairstyles offered by bioware games (especially the DA games).  Please note I'm not asking for amazing looking hair ala Tombraider.  Rather I'd at least like to see some styles that I'd actually consider using in real life.

To be honest - of the the various games I've seen recently, I think ESO might give the best example of various hairstyles that wouldn't interfere as much with clipping while still looking "pretty" -

(female hairstyles begin at about 9:43).

None of these hairstyle are very detailed (and in fact are probably less detailed since it's an MMO).  Looking over the videos, One thing about the DA hairstyles is that the majority tend to leave the forehead completely exposed.  It's difficult to get a good looking face when the forehead plays so prominent a role.  Even in real life, many hairstyles tend to cut hair so it has bangs or parted hair that partially covers the forehead.

While I've been less than thrilled with the hairstyles in the DA games, as a PC player I've at least been able to get decent hairstyles from mods.  Unfortunately because of the difficulty modding the new system, I doubt hairstyle mods will be as easily available in DAI.

While hair physics would be amazing, I can understand the need to spend resources elsewhere.  I just want to have a decent looking PC.  I have never liked a single one of the original hairstyles from DAO or DA2.

To be honest I am a big fan of long flowing locks and glorious hairdos, but I've been given to understand that modelling/animation can be rather tricky(not to mention the matter of resources),for that reason I have low expectations as far hairstyles are concerned.I liked the hairstyles hairstyles in ESO on the other hand, and they also look rather feasible.
Still from what we've seen so far, I'd say that I'm liking the hairstyles shown in the picture below, particularly the one worn by the lady dwarf, hopefully they will make the cut and we'll have them as options in the CC.

I just wish certain NPC hair options had been available for players (eg. Morrigan's hair in DA:O and default M/F Hawke's hair in DA2) without modding.

There is already a topic on this:

http://forum.bioware...ir-loss-in-dai/

And yes, I hope we get longer hairstyles as well.

While the topics are related, I felt that weren't exactly speaking to the same thing which is why I made a new thread rather than end up partially derailing that one.  That thread had a lot more to do with the complaint of not having long hairstyles rather than having hairstyles that look pleasing to the eyes (even if they were shorter).  The majority of the hairstyles in ESO are actually shorter hairstyles, but at least in my eyes there are several that look "pretty."

I would like hairstyles similar to those in Skyrim, with lots of braids and a bit of length to them, but which didn't look like they belonged on a supermodel. I think the hairs in the concept models above look dandy. I would also like fuller ponytails, bangs that didn't cut completely horizontally across the forehead, and DREADS FOR THE QUNQUISITOR!! :D

Ugh, I hope there's not too much of an emphasis on braids. Those renders of the races in DA:I are already giving me bad vibes.

I would like to see long hair that goes to the middle of the characters back. I like to have my femquisitor with long red hair.

I am not expecting to see long flowing hair (although that would be nice) but more choice of style and colour would be good (Dragon's Dogma being a good example).

We shall see!

I want long hair for my male inquisitor but I doubt we'll get long hair styles.

As someone with one-length hair down to her tailbone, I would also like long hairstyles.  Hey, EA did it for the elves in Warhammer and they looked great.

That having been said, I put my hair up securely if I'm doing anything physical, and so I usually consider that my character would do the same.  I really liked the double buns style in DAO, but I also liked Morrigan's style.

So, more put up long hair with a little softness in front is my request.

The clipping / long hair is easier to grab in combat points are true, and i know hair takes a lot of work, but personally, i really dislike short/bald hair in my characters, i wish we could have longer hair options, specially for females, like a longer braid or a longer ponytail (than what we usually have). Since bioware pretty much cut the hair out of all the companions (and probably the npcs too), i think they could at least give the player the chance of having one or two longer hairstyles, to keep eveyone happy.

I hope that we get to adjust the hair style after we choose it. Like its length and direction, this'll help avoid our hair getting in the way of our elf ears or kossith horns. Not to mention that it'd be awesome.

I don't see why we can't have longer hair in the form of braids, buns or ponytails. The clipping issues would be minimized by the bound form of the hair. It's not like it would be flowing freely. Loose hair to them middle of the back is probably too much to expect, but a medium-long braid seems reasonable.

To be honest,I'm really loving their new look! Imo they still look more "exotic" than humans, yet in a more subtle way.More recent pictures of Solas and Sera are a better example of how the elves will look in the game. But then again, everyone has different preferences.

I'm torn, I like both the more humanoid appearances from Origins, but I also thought Merrill and Fenris and Marethari were beautifully designed. I think from these pictures that they have achieved a sort of balance between the two (which I'm super excited for, as I intend my first playthrough to be as a Dalish mage).

And, on the hair topic again: why, oh, why couldn't they keep the awesome mohawk-braid-tails that Sera had in some of her early concept art? I thought that looked really, really cool and badass. Would LOVE something like that for a more unpredictable and dangerous character.

I'm torn with the braids issue--I see their in-game functionally during battle and i like their look but they're overused, There are other ways to confine ones hair, after all. Maybe some pretty hair sticks, the Inquisitor could even use them as weapons in a pinch and stab at a Red Templar's eyes. I'm really hoping for a cool undercut style for my female Qunari. Though if I never see that 'messy' female hairstyle from Origins or the 'covering the eyebrows' bangs again it will be way to soon.
