They even originally made Sera with really long hair and changed it into a bowl cut and made her face slightly uglier.

I don't see why we can't have longer hair in the form of braids, buns or ponytails. The clipping issues would be minimized by the bound form of the hair. It's not like it would be flowing freely. Loose hair to them middle of the back is probably too much to expect, but a medium-long braid seems reasonable.

 

I agree. Rather than having  every character have their hair cut very short (even the women), why not have some who have long hair tied up into braids, buns, and ponytails?

 

Also long hair isn't impossible to do. The Witcher 3 has it, for example...

I would guess that they probably aren't, since every female companion either has a shaved head or very short hair. And Leliana's head is covered with a hood.

I see women with butch haircuts...everywhere! Vivienne is acceptable - I'll let that pass.

 

But I loathe this new female hair trend with the fiery passion of a billion hyper-novas. If they extend such hair limitations to the character customization, I would be greatly disappointed. Not entirely shocked, but really disappointed.  I mean, they could at least provide medium length hair - that's not so much to ask, is it? 

 

Hair discrimination...it's an ugly thing.

I like to have my femquisitor with very long red hair and at times can wrap her hair around the enemies neck and choke them to death. There you go. Death by long hair. Nice.
