So what part of "having faith in good gaming community" extends to writing up a post whining about how the people doing things you don't like don't know how to really play the game?

You are right. Having a "conversation" over the strategy of ability in sub forum "Combat Strategy" is absoloutley silly. Also trying to understand it.

No marksmad, no.. Don't put logic behind it... this way it would make sence and people will understand my point.
Plus my post was aimed generlly in the people who recently familiarised themselves with the recon mine.
90% of the people didn't bother to think it trough. Like this one:

1: Plant Recon Mine on horde

2: Lock horde in place with Falcon (and set fire to them at the same time)

3: Detonate Recon Mine

 

... I've clocked up killstreaks with that on gold

 

So, in short, if you don't want to deal with smokey recon mine exploderising goodness ... don't stand in the middle of the damned thing, it's pretty obvious what I'm doing

What happens to the guys that don't care?
Most of them are trigger happy and detonate thinking it would be enough for kill streak. On gold it does almost nothing once Brutes and Banshees start storming arround. It might be godly on silver and bronze, but on higher tier you godda think of something else. What you describe has simmilair effect with cloak->homing grenade in recon mine field with the Drell.
However when I like to detonate for coup de grace. Also not trying to block their FOV.
When playing with buddies, the scan reveal pays off big time.

Not a problem for me since I always have either Hunter Mode or Geth Scanner.

 

In a game like this it is every man for himself, teamplay is a crutch.

I only plat or gold with friends. That's why most of the times it feels like we are playing silver, since everybody helps for tech/biotic combos and not mischieving. We are team playing.

Well, if I see that my friends are going to play tech classes I usually take a biotic class, and if they are going for biotics I take a tech class.

Well since we are not douchebags we don't do that. It's actually more fun to team play it, and make use of stasis or snap freeze, etc.
Plus who doesn't love the detonating sounds of the varoius combos.

I'm not sure which country you're from, but here in Blighty being a complete arse to your mates is practically man-law... NOT attempting to kill your friends off would be ... weird (revive them afterwards of course - not doing so would be rude) - heh.

Unfortunately that can be negated by them using a Cabal and using Poison Strike to jump through the wall and escape - for which they get about 1 million style points

Collectors were my least liked faction... Now they´re my favourite. Teamplay means sharing the A-bombs with your teammates.

Well, it's 1 million style points straight off just for using the Cabal, and extra for wall teleports.

 

But I was thinking of it as a way to make sure that a Juggy doesn't survive the reactor.

One thing I'd like to point out is that the Drell Assassin is not immune to the smoke and vision impairment of the detonation too. Only advantage is that the Drell knows when the detonation is about to occur. Also, if anyone can fight through Cerberus smoke bomb then Drell RM explosion smoke shouldn't be much of an issue. 

I try my darndest best not to detonate my mines indiscriminately(I Drell all the time  ) but it's really hard because my mines are also my eyes so if I really need to look around the corner I will have to remove and place it where I need it. Moreover, the enemies are revealed by the scan before the mine goes off, if they don't die from the detonation at least you know they are there.

By the way, what the h*** are you doing on top of the Recon Mine?!?!?!

Don't be simple.
Plus the only way to gain N7 is by reseting and I hate doing it. Once I unlock the two weapons that elude me, I won't bother boosting N7 anymore.
But it's fun to see how biased people are.
